Now prices in Austin are dropping 10 times faster than the national average. "There was an explosion of activity in Austin that just got too hot," Redfin chief economist Daryl Fairweather told Newsweek. "And then there needed to be a correction." Those that bought in the last 3 years will be hit, possibly hard. The overall cost of home ownership is way out of whack with what many working class families can afford and rents are no easier to choke down. It will be easier to justify building new homes, when existing homes are within reach of average families. Building homes, selling appliances for those homes etc is a good thing.
