Does it begin in Austin ?

fter being the poster child for the booming American housing market during the pandemic, Austin has seen its fortunes reverse, as the incredible growth that started in 2020 has evaporated.

The Texan city has been at the epicenter of the American housing market correction after house prices reached the national peak of $348,225 in July 2022, according to Zillow. Now prices in Austin are dropping 10 times faster than the national average.

"There was an explosion of activity in Austin that just got too hot," Redfin chief economist Daryl Fairweather told Newsweek. "And then there needed to be a correction."

Just as most corrections, the areas that had the biggest booms had the biggest busts.

"All economic news is bad" is just a quote.

As much as I'd like to see my house value keep climbing it's better for everyone if it does not.

Those that bought in the last 3 years will be hit, possibly hard.

The overall cost of home ownership is way out of whack with what many working class families can afford and rents are no easier to choke down.

It will be easier to justify building new homes, when existing homes are within reach of average families.

Building homes, selling appliances for those homes etc is a good thing.

wait until commercial real estate buckles...

;)

Commercial office space can’t be offloaded fast enough.

Covid, pushed working without the traditional office space decades ahead,  in a matter of years.

AI and technology is making that type or environment and employee less and less relevant.

Much of the commercial office space is being rezoned for residential across the country. It won’t go to waste. Developers are snatching it up. Money to be made.

That's been Biden's and his administration's policy since he took office.  No surprise you're on board with it :news:

Actually Texas could say fuck the USA. Texas is one of the few states that could become a very profitable nation of its own. They have an ocean port, plenty of both renewable and non-renewable energy, tons of farmland of both crops and cattle, access to cheap industrial labor right across the border, excellent schools, and fairly good medical system.

They also have an F1 track.

Sounds like a perfect place for Putin to invade.  9_9

Why would you say that?

Texas has both Democrat and Republican strongholds, each with their own options.

Wishing ill on an entire state, because of your own small minded views offers nothing.

Work together people. There are outside forces that plot against you all.

That would be a great place for Putin to invade…or not.

The states that would send their National Guard to help might wipe Putins forces out completely would be many.
Your National Guard has weapon systems our reserve force would drool over.

Don’t think so.

As much as Texas don’t like where the union is going, it’s still a union.

Think Mr Abraham had his shit together
