Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted March 20 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted March 20 November can't come soon enough. https://www.foxnews.com/politics/biden-finalizes-crackdown-gas-cars-forcing-more-than-50-of-car-sales-to-be-electric Under the new regulations, which will be formally announced at a ceremony in Washington, D.C., later on Wednesday afternoon, automakers will be forced to rapidly curb the emissions of greenhouse gases, hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter from new passenger cars, light trucks, and larger pickups and vans beginning with model year 2027 vehicles. When the tailpipe emissions rules kick in, automakers will be compelled to increase production and sales of EVs, plug-in hybrids, traditional hybrids and fuel cell vehicles. Under one "low cost" model EPA outlined in the rule, officials said automakers would be forced to ensure 56% of light-duty car sales are battery electric and another 13% are hybrid by 2032. Crnr2Crnr
it's downright idiotic... we're not there yet societally, not even close. if everyone were going to be driving EVs... wouldn't the power companies be building charging stations like mad so they could sell the juice directly to the consumer? GM & Ford fucked up royally by not focusing on Hybrids, which Toyota/Lexus has done successfully since 2000. Yota don't GAF about EVs... in the long run. Voodoo
There isn't the ability to charge that number of them, nor will there be by 2030...not even close. Invest in tow trucks, keep your old vehicles, buy new before then.

Also, factoring for the total volume of vehicles on U.S. roads - even if new car sales reach 50%, as a percentage of total vehicles in operation they would only account for approximately 10%. 90% will still be ICE.
