Mainecat
House committee receives Donald Trump's federal tax returns from IRS Source: CNN Politics CNN — The House Ways and Means Committee now has six years of Donald Trump’s federal tax returns, ending a yearslong pursuit by Democrats to dig into one of the former president’s most closely guarded personal details. The Treasury Department has complied with last week’s court order to hand over the documents, a spokesperson from the Treasury Department confirmed to CNN on Wednesday. The Supreme Court declined last week to intervene after courts said the House had power to request the returns from the IRS. The committee, led by Democrat Richard Neal, had sought six years of Trump’s tax records, primarily from the time he served as president. That included records about both Trump personally and several of his corporate entities. The documents are not expected to be immediately released to the public. This story is breaking and will be updated. Everyone will be shocked His 2005 tax returns "outed" by Rachel Maddow showed he paid $38 million on $150 million in income. Not all ultra rich avoid taxes. The top .1% pay (about 150K Americans) made about 9.6% of taxable income yet paid almost 19% of the personal income taxes. This of course also does not count the corp taxes they paid as part or whole owners of C Corps where S corp income is reported directly on personal tax returns. Yes there are certain legal tax means the ultra wealthy utilize but saying most pay zero is absolutely incorrect. https://taxfoundation.org/publications/latest-federal-income-tax-data/

It’s standard procedure for a person running for office to release their returns. So this doesn’t open the door for anything.

Well since it also includes other entities, I'm hoping that opens doors to include looking at returns of politicians that became wealthy while in office, just looking at personal tax returns leaves a lot of things hidden. Seems fair to me. Start with Ted Cruz and his blow jobs with oil companies. Then work right down the line.

Maybe it will be now Career politicians will be quick to release their personal returns, I'm sure they have their taxes prepared accordingly. It's the other entities like foundations, corporations any of their legal money laundering that needs to be looked into.
