I forgot about it & missed it dammit. Masks on in crowd or no?

There were a few masks, but the news media did not talk about it much at all from what I watched.  It was all a show.  Just like last year, the elite crowd does not need to follow the rules, you know that.

The hot elite chics strutting around with their big hats & no panties on under their dresses ...should not be wearing masks.

Always one of my wife’s half-wit friends throwing some big hat party.  Just another reason to gather and drink.  I’m fine with that....but let’s not pretend that anybody running their face about this is an “elite”.  My god....it’s Swisher Sweets and Christian Bros. Brandy all day long for the majority of these twits.

Oh the hats . We went to the track a lot when my wife's old man was alive .her family outings on the Old mans side always revolved around gambling lol.  . It was fun and I still have fun when I go . I like the track because you can have 20 min between bets to shoot the shit study stats etc . But I am a 20 to 50 per race guy . I could not watch my wife or her old man at the window counting out hundreds

The horse racing tracks around here have been dying for years. If covid didn't finish them off I don't know how much longer they have left. Drove by balmoral park 2 weeks ago and it looked like a ghost town. Weeds growing in the parking lot and shit.

I went to Arlington once. Did some betting and drinking. One of the wife’s coworkers had a couple horses racing that day. It was fun. Never went back.

One of my vendors has a customer appreciation event at hawthorne every year. Except last year for obvious reasons. It's alot of fun but pretty dead there otherwise. It's just not something people really do anymore.

We had great horse tracks here. Rockingham was an awesome old school track here in NH. It’s gone and now it’s a massive Tuscan Village, condos. LL bean etc....fruity restaurants etc.

Suffolk Downs just outside Boston was great too.

The one in my parts had gotten so popular you could not even get a table with out a 30 day rez and x amount of points on your card . My father-in-law acctualy bought a table for the year for about 5 yrs because it became such a pita . And who wants to stand around a trash can for table  with the riff raff on the main floor . Last I saw they were building condos around it . Week days always dead

disappointing all the racks are gone.  No more horses or dogs.

I will go to Saratoga one of these days.  Wife went a couple summers ago as her friend had a business contact with a table.

The Derby is on my bucket list.   Saturday a bunch of us were texting about going next year.   HS buddy who was big into horses and his dad was an internationally known equine vet said its a must see but especially the infield party.

I went to Naples - Ft Myers dog racing track last year before they closed it down. Glad I went but wasn't in a hurry to go back if it had stayed open. Horse track just north of me here closed down some years ago. Still have a local redeo a few miles up the road though

Racetrack better (horse or dog) is dying because people can bet so easily on almost anything online or a phone at.   I actually think its crazy how young people bet on sports.   Fuck that I'll risk/spend my money another way.

Agree with you on that. Sports betting bankrupted a few of our employees. They would be constantly asking me if they could take a loan on their 401k. Both had loans and were allowed one loan at a time. You were allowed to borrow up to half your balance. Both guys were at that level. I told them if they wanted more it would have to be hardship like losing your home or apt., tuition, medical or leaving the company. One guy quit and wanted his cash ASAP. I told him he had to request it, have direct deposit, pay a 10% penalty and have taxes held back. He was not happy and called me twice a day for a week until it showed up in his account. The other guy stated a hardship and wanted cash. I processed his hardship that was he owed 5 months rent at 1500.00 a month. He brought in the paperwork signed by his landlord. He quit 6 months later to get what he had left. I found out much later the house he lived in rent free was his grandmothers. So any way both guys gave up about 500K  combined to sports betting.

So yeah sports betting and gambling can cause as much damage as being addicted to crack.

I've never understood it.   Combine a addictive personality with someone who wants easy money gratification and its a bad combo.

Hell the few times a decade I go to a Casino I still play the lowest min BJ table.   Don't get me wrong I enjoy it especially on sled trips with a bunch of friends but I won't waste my money on it very often.

Yup. Been to a casino a few times and gave myself a 300.00 limit.

Back in the day when I was single we would bet on what color panties our waitress had on if any...lol

Now I just pretend bet like The Derby Sunday.

I have a co worker who bets on all-   stock market,  sports,   horses, dogs, casino etc.  Goes in cycles.  betting on euro soccer and tennis  in the mornings when that is all that is going on-   he had $20+m in day trades last year.  just got back from a weekend bender in Vegas.   Fully compd on a referral from his Foxwoods host.  I will give him credit though,  he maxes his 401k and spends his daytrading returns on dividend stocks for the long run but he has to have some action always going.
