Well he has always been in one and its the business model he's used to and then there are the contacts.

It really is a small world regardless of the industry.

Union trades provide a place for people of average intellect and abilities to work.  Which is fine 

but for people who are smart and driven a trade union will hold them back and it’s not a place for them to stay 

not sure how this is controversial at all

I am not labor, and I don't need anyone to negotiate my wages against myself. 

But I learned my trade thru my union provided training. They can be a great resource.

Yeah but smarter than your average worker to have any success. Companies will keep valuable workers around and let the dummies go when the job is over. Most unions understand the threat nowadays and don't defend the lazy beat offs.
