US economy smashes forecasts, adds 4.8 million jobs in June as unemployment declines to 11.1%

Recommended Posts

Great news:

The US economy notched its second straight month of job additions in June amid nationwide efforts to claw back from a coronavirus-induced recession.

American businesses added 4.8 million nonfarm payrolls during the month, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That exceeded the 3 million payroll additions expected by economists surveyed by Bloomberg.

The US unemployment rate came in at 11.1%, the BLS said, lower than the 12.5% expected by economists. It was also down from 13.3% in May.

Only Trump can light another fire watch it burn, then when it slows down claim victory.

They were not new jobs.

I didn’t see where he called them “new jobs” but yeah if he did it would be misleading. Politics aside it’s positive news at a time when we need some of that.

I am sure with all the numbers floating around, at least Rachael Maddow would have her finger on the pulse of the economy... let's see what she has to say!

Amazing someone so confident, even pompous after being so wrong about so many things. I wonder if she’s going to cry again when Trump wins. That was funny.

Furloughed employees go back to work in states that have controlled the virus. Meanwhile in other states the rates climb in younger Americans and those states effected consider their own shutdowns that will lead to more job losses.

A federal mask mandate in April would have the virus controlled like other countries have done. But the current loser in chief thinks the pandemic is a hoax.

The economy hinges on controlling the pandemic on a federal level and not 50 different methods. The Virus does not stop on state lines.

Minnesota showing some nice signs, number of cases have been climbing but deaths and hospitalizations have been declining steadily.  I think the last few days have been under 10 or less.  It has actually reached my town, a fairly large group went riding in South Dakota and they all came home with it.  15 so far and all asymptomatic.

If Trump mandated masks at any point you would've complained....I mean let's be honest here.
