This is crazy....

Americans spend more on health care but die earlier

By Tami Luhby, CNN

Updated 12:05 AM ET, Thu January 30, 2020

(CNN)Americans shell out far more on health care than other wealthy countries, but it's not helping them live longer lives.

In the US, health care spending accounted for 16.9% of the economy in 2018, nearly twice as much the average developed nation, according to a new study released Thursday by The Commonwealth Fund.

Americans spend more than $10,000 per person on health care, more than double the amount shelled out by Australians, Canadians and residents of the United Kingdom.

Private health care spending, including premiums for employer-sponsored coverage, drives much of the outlay in the US -- with Americans shelling out more than five times more than Canadians, the second-highest spender.

But those dollars don't translate into better health outcomes in the US, the study found.

I thought the ACA was supposed to fix healthcare, yet all I keep hearing from the dems is how bad HC is in the US>

IT couldn't have because the people trying to fix it didn't know what was wrong with it.

I can’t get over how fat these young people are, especially the girls.   Watching on the news,  this young woman fell in the lake, took three grown men to pull her out.  .  If you are 200- 300 pounds as a young adult,  where do you think you will be at 40?

Pretty much all you have to read.

Four in 10 Americans are obese, nearly double the average OECD rate. Obesity is a key risk factor for diabetes, heart disease and other chronic illnesses.

I've seen numbers like 70% of our HC costs (non medicare) is from obesity and smoking.   That's insane.

My wife see’s it on a daily basis.  It so much harder to do surgery on obese people.   Not to mention,  they are losing techs and nurses who are injuring themselves trying to move them around.
Blaming the medical professionals is like never changing your oil and blaming the mechanic who is telling your motor is shot at 50k

You clowns blaming obese people and smokers for America's healthcare problems. :lmao:The problem with American healthcare is greed and you can go right down the line from hospitals, doctors, pharmaceuticals, insurance co's. etc, etc, etc. Americans actually go to the doctor less because they fear the costs, that's sad.

A new study from academic researchers found that 66.5 percent of all bankruptcies were tied to medical issues —either because of high costs for care or time out of work. An estimated 530,000 families turn to bankruptcy each year because of medical issues and bills, the research found.Feb 11, 2019

Study has been debunked as it was shown that 78% of those who filed bankruptcy had owed less then $1500 in medical bills. That dosnt mean it dosnt have serious issues. Just that the study results where actually incorrect.

The topic is Americans spending more dying early.  Is the high cost of care killing Americans?  Heart attacks when they get their bill?  :lmao:
