"As he tried to transition from the caregiver market, where pot sold for $1,800 to $2,200 a pound, he found the price from licensed growers jumped from $3,200 to $3,700 a pound, plus the $2,700 in costs for a licensed and secured transport company to get the weed from a grower in Chesaning to Detroit. And that’s if there is even fully grown product available for sale."

What a mess. Are those expensive licenses one time buys? Or required every year?

The people who grew the shit on the bottom paid about $250k for their 6000 plant license. They have four 1500 plant licenses that run $68k/each.

Those have to be renewed every year.

Holy fuck. They’re going to ruin this thing before it even gets started. People will stick to the underground for supplies

Patients have no choice but to go to the black market for supply, licensed dispensaries can't buy from anyone but licensed suppliers, who have seemingly taken to blatant profiteering on the shortage.

Michigan pricing themselves out of the market?

Nah, just a couple of dipshits with more money than talent taking advantage of an artificial shortage.

They won't last, but for right now they're raking cash

This shortage is very short lived.  6 to 9 months and prices will be down below the pre legal rec prices.  Same thing happened on the west coast.

Most likely you're correct, but patients lose access during the intervening months.

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. — The first commercial pot shops in Massachusetts sold more than $2.2 million worth of marijuana products during the first five days they were open for business.

That's between 2 stores!

The town of leicster held a special meeting Monday night to discuss all the traffic and concerns about that store

the traffic will fix itself if they get more facilities open.  mass drags its feet in the approvals for these places.  Friend has a client whose got 12 lined up all over the north shore,  fucking guy already drives a lambo from the last industry he jumped on and then sold out of now he's gone all in on the pot game

Yeah same thing here. Market has to learn the demand. They severely underestimated it lol

even at that the black market won’t go away. It’s just cheaper
