:pc: Imagine if Romney did this to Obama and the FBI and IC used it.  I said this was probably the case long ago.  The last 24 hours may have just locked up the WH for Trump in 2020.

A law firm representing the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee helped fund opposition research that eventually became a controversial dossier on then-candidate Donald Trump, a source confirmed to NBC News Tuesday.

The Washington Post, which first reported the funding of the research earlier Tuesday, said it shows the Clinton campaign and the DNC helped pay for what would become the dossier that contained unverified and salacious allegations about Trump.

No shit, they picked up the ball after the REPUBLICAN GROUP who started the investigation dropped what they had started when it became apparent that Trump was going to be the nominee.

What's funny is this is way old news and you think IT'S groundbreaking.

A REPUBLICAN GROUP STARTED THE DOSSIER INVESTIGATION :lol::lol:

A Republican group started the opposition research.   Can you show where they were paying at the time the dossier was created?   I'll wait.....:pc:

Hiring opposition research firms is not my issue.   I understand everyone does it.   But creating false documents then having them leaked to the press and IC is a whole different ball game.   On top of that using supposedly Russian operatives to compile the dossier and claim somehow this is not Collusion is laughable.   Keep trying Vince your brain will start working someday.

By the way the WaPo disagrees with you.  Let me know when you want to be bitch slapped around a little more.   Might want to pay attention to the thread title before opening your pie hole.

you're corresponding with a nimwit who thinks the trump jr/Russia meeting in july 2016 was a set up by Hillary. so they coul use it after the election, to get get trump impeached. rather than right before the election, to help her win.

no i am not being partisan or hypocritical in this discussion. I've known about opposition research for quite some time, and i never blasted the gop for using it. so explain why you think that.

The real problem with the dossier is the lack of vetting of it's content by the Hillary camp and the DNC. Hit pieces like this only work if the facts behind them hold up and in this case it boomeranged back. It certainly added to her loss.

  Keep on making fools of yourselves boys.   This is too easy.

Marc E. Elias, a lawyer representing the Clinton campaign and the DNC, retained Fusion GPS, a Washington firm, to conduct the research.

After that, Fusion GPS hired dossier author Christopher Steele, a former British intelligence officer with ties to the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community, according to those people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.

Elias and his law firm, Perkins Coie, retained the company in April 2016 on behalf of the Clinton campaign and the DNC. Before that agreement, Fusion GPS’s research into Trump was funded by an unknown Republican client during the GOP primary.

The Clinton campaign and the DNC, through the law firm, continued to fund Fusion GPS’s research through the end of October 2016, days before Election Day.

Fusion GPS gave Steele’s reports and other research documents to Elias, the people familiar with the matter said.

The Clinton camp and DNC funded what became the Trump-Russia dossier: Here’s what it means

Old news

Quote

1) Clinton supporters — though not the campaign itself — were previously reported to fund the dossier

The fact Democrats were behind at least some of the funding for the dossier is not totally new. When CNN first reported on the dossier's existence back in January, it said it was originally funded by President Trump's GOP opponents and then, when he won the nomination, by those supporting Clinton.

Until now, though, the dossier had not been tied specifically to the Clinton campaign or the DNC.

Here's what CNN reported back then:

The raw memos on which the synopsis is based were prepared by the former MI6 agent, who was posted in Russia in the 1990s and now runs a private intelligence gathering firm. His investigations related to Mr. Trump were initially funded by groups and donors supporting Republican opponents of Mr. Trump during the GOP primaries, multiple sources confirmed to CNN. Those sources also said that once Mr. Trump became the nominee, further investigation was funded by groups and donors supporting Hillary Clinton.

Lock he up, lock her up!! Just do it Trump :lol:

doing opposition research is not collusion. working with a foreign, hostile government to try and defeat an opponent, is collusion.

but I have to tell you, it's nice to see many of you now admit the trump admin colluded with Russia

fish in a fucking barrel.

When Dems were funding it it was "opposition research", when Reps took it over its colluding with a hostile government?
