As Congress touts spending deal, Trump calls for shutdown

Lawmakers in both parties celebrated reaching a spending deal that would avoid a government shutdown this week, but President Trump took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to argue that the country "needs a good shutdown" to fix Senate rules that require him to negotiate with Democrats.

The deal struck by Republican and Democratic leaders to fund the government through Sept. 30 includes some of the increased defense spending Trump had requested but not funding for his wall along the Mexican border. It also continues subsidies for health insurance under Obamacare and provides emergency funding for Puerto Rico, where a budget crisis has threatened Medicaid payments. Both were big Democratic priorities.

Congress is expected to vote on the deal in the next couple of days; the government is currently funded only through Friday under a temporary measure passed last week.

Trump tweeted Tuesday that the deal had to be negotiated because Republicans can't push a bill through the Senate without bipartisan support. He then suggested changing Senate rules to scrap the minority party's ability to block legislation, and said a government shutdown would help.

"And we didn't do any touting like the Democrats did, by the way," Trump said

But what do call what you are doing Mr. President?

President Trump Claims Victory on Bipartisan Spending Bill

President Donald Trump on Tuesday declared victory on a bipartisan spending bill that will fund the government through September.

Seeking to disrupt the narrative that Democrats won on key funding proposals, Trump proclaimed to an audience gathered in the Rose Garden that the U.S. would see increases in defense spending and an end to "painful cuts to our military."

"And we didn't do any touting like the Democrats did, by the way," Trump said, though Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney had appeared before reporters twice in the last twenty four hours to do just that.

Then the president followed suit, announcing his administration's spending achievements on $21 billion for defense, plus increased funding for border security and health care extension for coal miners.

"With this major investment in America's national defense, a core campaign promise of mine, we are at last reversing years of military cuts and showing our determination and resolve to the entire world — and believe me, the entire world is watching — and we have resolved like never, ever before," he said.

While he did have some losses he had a few wins.....  Very few.  But has any other president in history been able to effect his Predecessors Fiscal Year budget so early in the term and get any wins?    Barely over 100 days in and Trump is getting his hands in FY 17 budget setup last year by the last president.

What is with this butthurt shit, that sounds like something a second grader would say...........sorry but it does.

The fact of the matter is that Trump has acted like a goof since the day he announced his candidacy, and it's all funny until it doesn't become funny.

He has had a few wins, and no Gorsuch was McConnell's win, but very few wins when your party is large and in charge is weak sauce.

Nothing has changed since the debates, he is the same them as he was then.

This is what you wanted and you got it :thumb:

The presidential campaign of 2016 was rocked when Wikileaks revealed an email appearing to show Donna Brazile passing along a question from a CNN debate to Hillary Clinton. After months of denials, the former interim DNC chair finally admitted Friday that she was guilty of the accusation.

In an essay written for Time, Brazile recounts how the DNC was hacked during her tenure as interim chair, and eventually admits guilt.

“When I was asked last July to step in temporarily as D.N.C. Chair,” she explained, “I knew things were amiss. The D.N.C. had been hacked, and thousands of staff emails and documents were plastered on various websites. Staff were harassed, morale suffered, and we lost weeks of planning. Donors were harassed, and fundraising fell off.”

Then in October, a subsequent release of emails revealed that among the many things I did in my role as a Democratic operative and D.N.C. Vice Chair prior to assuming the interim D.N.C. Chair position was to share potential town hall topics with the Clinton campaign.

The debate on CNN was held between Hillary Clinton and her upstart competitor Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders for the Democratic primary. Bernie lost, and when the accusations of debate cheating were discovered, his supporters vociferously attacked Clinton, while fueling Trump’s constant claims, now forgotten, that the election was “rigged.”
