Trump said he got onto a “three-way call” with Vladimir Putin and “the king of Saudi Arabia” — perhaps meaning Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — to urge them to cut oil production and drive up oil prices. Said Trump: “I had to save the oil companies. They were all going to go bust.” It’s a bizarre thing to brag about during a presidential campaign, but Trump may be preoccupied with more pressing matters. OPEC and Putin were flooding the market driving the price down. If anything, he was following his America first mantra to get people working again.
