When Obama took office he had both chambers of congress and at the end he had neither. To say that Obama's politics did not have something to do with that would be short sighted. Love or hate the Repubs they were voted in to do the bidding of the voters and that includes heading off a supreme court justice that was not like Scalia. Which brings us back to Gorsuch who is at best Scalia light and an improvement for the left side.  The Dems should keep their powder dry for when one of the left leaners is being replaced which is likely. If anything this just makes picking someone even more to the right for a nominee easier for the repubs. Ruth and Kennedy may not make 2020 and they surely won't make 2024 and even the mid terms in 2018 show little promise of over turning majorities.

Bingo.  The question is, can they be intelligent enough to know when they can't win a battle and choose to "be smart" and arm and prepare for the next?  I honestly hope so, but what I've witnessed after the election proves different.

They did that when they approved the use of the Nuclear option a few years back.  The Nuclear option will be used on evey supreme court nominee from here on out, thanks to the democrats.  The parties will never come together.    When Trump appoints Ginsburg replacement in an election year the butt hurt is going to be legendary!  Its going to be a great time in politics and shit with people crying and come unglued.  It is going to be awesome to watch with so many people lose there shit!!!!!
