ckf
Edelman is the Patriots emergency QB. Quote Jimmy Garoppolo's sensational start as New England's starting quarterback has hit a setback. The third-year player was knocked out of Sunday's 31-24 victory over the Miami Dolphins midway through the second quarter with a shoulder injury. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reported after the game that Garoppolo suffered a sprained AC joint in his throwing shoulder, according to someone informed of the results of exams performed at the hospital today. Garoppolo's chances of playing Thursday against the Texans are slim, per Garafolo, but the Patriots are hopeful he can return Week 4. Rookie third-round pick Jacoby Brissett finished the game for the Patriots, while wide receiver Julian Edelman was the emergency quarterback. ckf
Bennett had a good day yesterday. He's another one that the Bears let go recently. Quote Martellus Bennett is loving it in New England Photo via The Boston Globe Martellus Bennett hasn't been on a ton of winning teams in his career. He's on one now in New England, and he's absolutely loving it. Providence Journal: “I’m a blue collar football player,” Bennett said. “Whether it’s a 5-yard pass and you break two tackles and get 8 yards, whatever it is, that’s what I do so. Man, I’m just here to play football and have fun. I’m just having a lot of fun right now with these guys. I love my teammates. I love the coaches. I love this environment and these fans and, for me that’s all it’s really about, just going out there and doing the things I love to do, and have fun doing it. I haven’t had this much fun in a long time in the NFL and I think it’s making a big difference for me. Because when it’s fun, it’s much easier to go out there and play.” There were some rumblings made when the Patriots acquired Bennett that he's a hothead and may not mesh well with some of his teammates. That seems to have gone by the wayside two games into the year, as Bennett has been effective as a pass catcher and run blocker. Yesterday, Bennett was an enormous factor in the Patriots' 31-24 win over the Dolphins. The big tight end caught five passes for 114 yards and a touchdown, and he figures to keep that going this Thursday against the Houston Texans. Bennett seems to also have confidence in Jacoby Brissett, who will start in place of Jimmy Garoppolo this Thursday after Garoppolo suffered a shoulder injury on a hit from Dolphins' linebacker Kiko Alonso. “I talk to Jacoby a lot, you know? I actually rode here with him today,” Bennett said. “I was just trying to make plays, really. I feel like one of the best things I do when I get the ball in my hands is making things happen. We ran it earlier; we took a shot down the field and kind of got the same result. We came back to it later on in the game and it was still open again and that one we were able to complete and get moving down the field.” Could we see some instant chemistry between Bennett and Brissett? The rookie quarterback found Bennett three times yesterday for a total of 68 yards.
