4500 acres were unused by farmers in Dane county. The farmers contracted with a Chicago energy firm for solar farms. Now they get to enjoy their retirement. It’s a growing trend in Wisconsin. Same with leasing land for wind turbines. I’ve never heard if cutting down a forest to put up a wind farm when there’s so much cleared land already available. Just sounds counterproductive. Cuts into margins.

Sounds like a great idea!! Aren't you a vegetarian?  should be great for you we can ship veggies from over sea by ship burning crude oil!! Excellent idea!!

On the second bold, I'm happy I was able to educate you on the clearing of trees for solar projects that are under performing, Thankfully, the apartment complex was built for economic diversity and none of them will be able to afford an EV or be able to charge them off solar since it can barely cover 50% of their daily usage now.........

The Company name was "Wind Works"

Ahhh, a Canadian company working in the US.... Another great idea!

Where at? Saw 1 in East Troy some years back, gone now.

The big one broke ground last month in Dane county. 4500 acres. Here’s a map of current solar farms.

Wow, 4500 acres of farm land to generate 492mw.

The smallest nuclear power plant generates 582 megawatts over way less area.

Keep wishing for you nuclear in one hand and shit in the other. Sit back and watch which gets filled first.

Lets see which ones are still operational and advocated for in another 10-15 yrs.

Yet you are still driving a diesel truck.  Yeah, CLEAN ENERGY.

Going solar, taking up 4500 acres of farmland in the midst of a possible famine (according to the liberals) for 492MW of energy.....all the while

Did you know that 19% of America’s electricity comes from nuclear power?

That’s an incredible stat given the fact that there are just 92 nuclear reactors operating in the United States.

That’s right, 54 nuclear power plants, located in 28 states, are fueling the future with reliable electricity that we can use every day—and all the time.

They also provide more clean energy to the grid than any other energy source, accounting for half of the country’s clean energy electricity production.

But this incredible technology isn’t new.

Nuclear energy has been powering the U.S. grid for the past 6 decades and produces around 1 gigawatt of power per plant on average.

Just how much power is that exactly?

It’s kind of a lot.

Renewables made more electricity for Americans at a much cheaper per kWh then nuclear did through all of 2021…

https://www.utilitydive.com/news/for-the-first-time-us-renewable-energy-output-exceeds-nuclear-generation/622899/

  • The growing number of large solar and wind energy projects resulted in renewable generation beating out nuclear energy last year, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said on Tuesday.

Solar shingles are out there.a bit expensive yet and need right pitch roof for norther states but down south would be the ticket.technology only going to get better with these.

only problem with solar are the kickbacks from Government.my power rate should be going down with all this free energy buy it is not.pay full boat for install and if they are so great get your kickback from your energy savings not my pocket book!!!

If we’d of stuck more into nuke technology through the years there’d be no chance of solar or wind catching it!!

new nuke technology uses current plants spent fuel so most plants could run 100 years on whats already there!!

Obviously when you have that government promoting and pushing against nuclear, eventually other electricity generation will have to catch up.  I don't quite understand why some here are thinking that solar or other low density energy sources would survive over nuclear if this wasn't happening.

Per cost of mwh onshore wind and Solar are the cheapest forms of energy production.

The generation of electricity through nuclear power plants in the United States cost 30.41 U.S. dollars per megawatt hour.

What does solar or onshore wind cost to generate?
