Mainecat
Republicans move to sell off 3.3m acres of national land, sparking rallies Now that Republicans have quietly drawn a path to give away much of Americans’ public land, US representative Jason Chaffetz of Utah has introduced what the Wilderness Society is calling “step two” in the GOP’s plan to offload federal lands. The new piece of legislation would direct the interior secretary to immediately sell off an area of public land the size of Connecticut. In a press release for House Bill 621, Chaffetz, a Tea Party Republican, claimed that the 3.3m acres of national land, maintained by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), served “no purpose for taxpayers”. But many in the 10 states that would lose federal land in the bill disagree, and public land rallies in opposition are bringing together environmentalists and sportsmen across the west. Set aside for mixed use, BLM land is leased for oil, gas and timber, but is also open to campers, cyclists and other outdoor enthusiasts. As well as providing corridors for gray wolves and grizzly bears, low-lying BLM land often makes up the winter pasture for big game species, such as elk, oryx and big-horned sheep. morehttps://www.theguardian.com/environment/2017/jan/31/public-lands-sell-congress-bureau-management-chaffetz

No shit, and Z is correct, it does depend on the situation. If the land isn't making more money than if it was on the tax rolls, then put it back on. JEFF
The fed is not in the business to own millions upon millions of acres of America. The local community's suffer by having the land off of the tax dole. There has to be some but in the last 20 years way too much has been bought up.

There is a perfect example of the government taking control of land that for how many years was open to multiple uses? Then what happened? Some company will buy it to develop it or strip all of the natural resources out and then its worthless. Every case of the govt selling off assets has always resulted in corruption and failure. Lets not fall for that shit anymore eh?
Legend
There is way more wilderness land than snowmobile land they way it is now. If the fuckin tree huggers want us to stay off the land so bad, let them fuckers buy it up..... like ke I said earlier, nobody is gonna buy all this land. I doubt the gov is going to sell small parcels in the Northeast. But out west? Fuck there is a lot of land for sale now that nobody wants.
