I sent a set of shocks to Mike Carver for a revalve/upgrade and am making a list of shit I want/need on the shelf now for spares or otherwise, before winter rolls in and there's another parts shortage.

Anyone actually get their new 2022 sled(s) yet?

I picked up an NOS temp sender kit and some 020’s for my tcat and a NOS kitty cat wheel kit for 300 bucks from another cat dealer that went out of business this weekend. I thought he had some skis for it too but they ended up being the goofy looking firecat skis

I'm getting to a chill point on the Prowler where I think after I check out the chain case I will push to side for a while.

Nos pistons, resealed crankcases, nos throttle cable, nos intake flanges, all new fuel lines, carbs finally all sorted out, painted exhaust, nos front shocks and cleaned up front suspension, painted different coil springs and polished adjusters and tie rods, addressed some coolant line stuff and routed everything better, fixed some previous wiring issues, new skis and found the black loops, tinted reflectors, nos low windshield.  Good 9 tower off the Jag with new weights.  The hood pod/console like has little raised pimples all over like paint lifted off fiberglass or some reaction happened with fiberglass, I think I may sand that down and attempt a semi pro rattle can job this summer also.  Also got a nos one year only cover for the 92 Prowler special.  I have a mint seat cover for it that will go on at some point also, one year only seat cover.

This sled should be as reliable as any new sled after this and I'm pretty pumped to ride it.

Are there any cat dealers left up your way?

Raiding the obsolete race sled part stash and pulled out one of the sets of 98-99 Sno-Pro bars.  Whoever I got them front just yanked the wires for the heated grips out.  That style heater is obsolete.  Grrr.

Think this is about the 3rd or 4th time I've dug a set out and put it back.

This one was literally a shack in the middle of the Adirondacks. Under the arctic cat sign was a daisy BB guns song and a cardboard sign for blue tick coon hound puppies. There’s one 3 minutes from my house and 6 more within 2-2.5 hours. Problem is I’m in the middle of the state and only one of those is west of me.

Freshies for the SRX

After a whole can of wd40 and screwing around with those side planes they are finally clean and glue free. And about the time i got it off i realized i had a full can of 3m industrial adhesive remover. That got rid of the stubborn sticky film I couldn’t get off real fast. I wish i would have noticed I had that can when i started. Cat upped their glue game for sure

I see ohlins is back in the sled business and is going to haydays for the first time ever. Anyone have some info on who is selling them in the states? I sent them a message to see what they have. Doing the exchange their 14k shock package is  cheaper than getting all the rxc stuff from a dealer

I will have to check with them. Ohlins had the shocks for the trail sleds listed and just said coming soon the us. Fire and ice are less money than oem rxc shocks

The only good handling/riding firecat I was ever on had a set of Ohlins on it. Was like riding a 135hp ZR3

From what I am seeing a complete set is roughly 2800 bucks for all 4 corners. Adding that to my sled will put me less money than it would have been buying an actual rxc. figuring where to buy them is the next step. I might have to go to haydays and talk to them. That might be worth the 100 bucks it cost to attend it.

Ohlins got back to me. They will have catalysts options available at haydays

Decided it was awhile since I made a poor life decision , since cat has nothing to offer me I ended up on the dark side and the dealer delivered it to the Lena national with a big red bow.

The 06 I did my first XC races on had pretty much a full 440 suspension under it and USI skis.

It handled great for a Firecat, but damn it beat you and the chassis up.

Or I was just too stupid to realize what was going on.

Yeah, that one is far more likely.

It’s insane how much different the 440 Sno pro “firecats” felt than the civilian sleds. I wish they translated more of it to the trail side. I never loved firecats especially replacing the ZR3

I felt the same with the firecat. The crossfire was even worse. I road that sled for a short period of time before offing it

Did all that era crossfire have that vertical steering post? I’ve only ever rode one and it just didn’t work for me at all

I think so. Mine was an 06 and it body rolled terrible and when trying to corner hard you would put the handle bar in your chest because of the flat steering. It was super fast in a straight line and would have been really good off trail if you change the track
