Senate Democrats unveiling push to legalize marijuana at federal level

Senate Democrats on Wednesday are unveiling a renewed push to legalize marijuana at the federal level.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) will hold a news conference to introduce a discussion draft of the Cannabis Administration and Opportunity Act.

According to a summary of the discussion draft obtained by NBC News, the legislation is intended to expunge federal convictions of nonviolent marijuana charges, remove the drug from the Controlled Substances Act and set up a system to tax marijuana in states that legalize it.

The proposal still allows individual states to set their own marijuana laws, however.

Go for it.  Colorado is charging 25-27% on all sales.  Nothing more than the Feds getting their hands in the game at this point..... As long as they don't tie it to a bunch of other bullshit.

Great that never comes without taxes or wealth redistribution.

The Dems can walk and chew gum unlike the repubs.

Legalize it all....not just pot.   If you become addicted to any of it and convicted of a serious crime then we will throw you in an unguarded prison that has live pay for view of people killing one another for the food that's dumped in.  No taxpayer funded treatment programs.

No one opposes the legalization, we oppose another bullshit federal department for it.  Why is there a need for anything like this.  Legalize it and that's it, there is no need to make another taxpayer funded department to just steal money.

Yep.

But at this point there is already big corporate money pushing for this and you sure shit know are the ones creating the bill to there Benny.  It will become legal to by from a fed  licensed shop and will need a tax stamp etc etc and if you have a field in the back 40 you will be treated like  moonshine bootleggers guernteed.  The money has already been paid
