racer254
Can't end that free money train just yet. Have to keep it going until school and universities get back in session. Gov. Tony Evers on Tuesday vetoed a GOP-authored bill that sought to eliminate Wisconsin’s participation in enhanced federal unemployment benefits, which provide unemployed individuals with an extra $300 per week. Republicans and some of the state’s largest business organizations have taken aim at enhanced federal benefits, which are slated to run through Sept. 6, as creating a disincentive to work and exacerbating the ongoing workforce shortage. Democratic lawmakers and some business groups have defended the benefits as much-needed assistance to those who are unable to find work or are reluctant to return to the workforce amid the ongoing pandemic. https://madison.com/wsj/news/local/govt-and-politics/tony-evers-vetoes-gop-bill-seeking-to-end-federal-unemployment-benefits-in-wisconsin/article_aff146dd-271b-5ccb-9591-697313523bd0.html
Platinum Contributing Member Highmark Posted June 30, 2021 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted June 30, 2021 One of my largest suppliers has a very good compensation package. Because of being short staffed on 2nd and 3rd shift they are trying to run 6 hours on Saturday. Nobody wants to work over 40. For Saturday they offer double time plus multiple drawings of $500 for anyone who shows up. They get 25% attendance. Can't make it mandatory because people will just quit and go on UE. But we were told by many of the dipshits on this forum that people just can't find work. What a bunch of flat out bullshit lies. Can you imagine if the would have just simple ended the federal income taxes for this time frame instead? Wanna talk about WOKE, all these people would realize how much the government actually steals from them each year. Don't think itwould because 50% of them hardly pay any Federal income taxes to begin with. Edited June 30, 2021 by Highmark

Then why bother taking it out of employee payroll checks? Just let them figure it out at the end of the year. That would wake some people up.

Taking it out weekly at least makes them understand what they would or should be paying before EICC or other means of getting money back. Edmo
GM can even get workers now. Usually like 10,000 people line up for these good paying jobs. But their at home on the couch collecting all that extra money. States that have put an end to this have a lower unemployment rate. Gee, what a coincidence.

Nah, it just makes them more complacent. It's like the old scenario of boiling a lobster. Slowly heating the water vs throwing them straight in. Gee, what a coincidence. And the left says it natural labor market forces. We are looking for workers and the application list is short but we've found a few good ones. First shift is always much easier to fill.

My son is graduating from college next summer and has an internship this summer. They are putting on the full court press with gifts and swag and taking them out to games and lunch and other activities. They’re trying to reel them in before they even graduate.

Comes out to around $16 per hour with state ui included. Thats decent money in my part of the state.
