AKIQPilot
Looks like the Texan made it to Tanana, Frankies home town, and declared a layover. Im sure they were tired of getting beat up all day today.

AKIQPilot
The link is updated now. https://track.irondograce.org/ Team 7 Aklestad/Olstad ran the 408 miles today and averaged 78mph. All refueling and oiling and everything is on the clock. 78 mph including 4 fuel stops. Just unreal. Team 39 is second at 77.25mph.

AKIQPilot
Looks like Palin is struggling today. Team 17 has been passed by several teams and they havent passed many. They are currently pinging at 25mph in a section everyone else ran at 80+. The sun has set now so everything is dark. Running after dark is sometimes easier than directly into the sun setting in the west. But at 25mph they definitely have issues with their Skidoos. They just got passed by the Arctic Cat team. That really has to sting.

Plenty of snow? @AKIQPilot Oh fuck. When the teams go back on the clock in the morning they will run into huge snow getting to the coast. Rec riders posted there was fresh chest deep snow on the overland trail to Unalakleet Plenty of snow for this years race. Way plenty

AKIQPilot
A sad development for Team 3 Boney/Unruh came in the form of them having to watch one of their Arctic Cat ZR 6000 R XC 600’s burn to the ground after it went up in flames due to over-filling the fuel tank which caught fire. Nobody was injured but Team 3’s 2020 Iron Dog has come to and end at the Bible Camp fueling station.

And they do this every day for a week and cover 2400 miles. It was -32 this morning in Fairbanks when they left the starting line. Just crazy cold to be riding this fast. Not so much the miles but the speed they are carrying. I've made my commute camp at 87 mph average and that took some aggressive driving on a highway. A buddy of mine in particular who ran this race three different times looks like one of the guys you'd pick last in gym class...but will absolutely smoke you on a sled in pretty much any terrain. A lot of this is an innate ability
