The sad reality of watching her is, there are just too many old people who are massively out of touch with America holding DC hostage.  Add to this problem that many have spent most of their adult lives in an elected office.

This isn’t what the founders envisioned....at all.

As it is now, they “serve” the people about 6-8 months of those two years.  The rest is spend looking for home and office and redecorating using their allotted funds and working on getting re elected.

Let’s face it, these positions just aren’t needed in these numbers any longer.....and they sure aren’t needed when we look at who is getting AND STAYING in those positions.

I am good for a maximum of 2 terms for house and senate just like president.  Max 12 years cumulative on the Fed tit,  401k just like every other American and pay for their own healthcare at the going rate with no subsidy so they feel some pain of their inaction

another problem is with these two year seats is they can leave in two and collect a full (or close to it) pension for life.    what a great deal they made for themselves   smh

They can retire with a "full pension " at 5 years and 62 but the full is not full salary it is just not reduced benefit.

80% of the is max and the formula requires 60 years of service with a "normal" 25 year of service being less than 50% of their pay.  6 years is going to get them about 17k or 10% of their pay and they can't collect till 62.   thats certainly better than the private sector but not what gets thrown around.

Congressional pensions, like those of other federal employees, are financed through a combination of employee and employer contributions. All Members pay Social Security payroll taxes equal to 6.2% of the Social Security taxable wage base ($132,900 in 2019). Members first covered by FERS prior to 2013 also pay 1.3% of full salary to the Civil Service Retirement and Disability Fund (CSRDF). Members of Congress first covered by FERS in 2013 contribute 3.1% of pay to the CSRDF. Members of Congress first covered by FERS after 2013 contribute 4.4% of pay to the CSRDF. Members covered by CSRS Offset pay 1.8% of the first $132,900 of salary in 2019, and 8.0% of salary above this amount, into the CSRDF. Under both CSRS and FERS, Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least 5 years of service. Members are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service. The amount of the pension depends on length of service (as measured in months) and the average of the highest three years of salary. By law, the starting amount of a Member’s retirement annuity may not exceed 80% of his or her final salary. There were 617 retired Members of Congress receiving federal pensions based fully or in part on their congressional service as of October 1, 2018. Of this number, 318 had retired under CSRS and were receiving an average annual pension of $75,528. A total of 299 Members had retired with service under FERS and were receiving an average annual pension of $41,208 in 2018.

If I recall correctly from my junior high civics lessons the Framers and Founders  never intended for politics to be a career...the citizen representative from all walks of life and regular jobs would serve and then go home.
