This is true but it also hurts the manus and their country of origin because the price increase of their product puts it more inline with their competition or, even higher.  This is the goal of a tariff.  It especially works well on manufactured supply products that can be made or bought elsewhere.  Again, this hurts the country of origin/manufacturer.

The consumer is also a participant in the domestic labor market and domestic economy. When tariffs are used as a last resort punative measure to punish hostile trade nations and correct their damaging aggression toward us the tarrifs can provide massive benefits and be a very useful tool.

I find it funny that people are very accepting of paying higher costs that have negligible benefit in order to "be green".

But lord help us if our TV, washing machine,  car- coffee pot, iphone cost a few bucks more to help benefit our neighbors, country, manufacturing base, ect. Seems hypocritical.
