AKIQPilot
Wow. There is something going on every week here. Busses By the Bridge. One of the largest VW Bus gatherings in the country. Over 600 VB Busses from all over the nation and world convene on Lake Havasu for the next 4 days. Lots of cool old VDubs.

AKIQPilot
We've been exploring the south end of the lake the last few days. Some pretty cool camping spots right on the lake. Only accessable from the water. We're planning to take the boat up to the Topock Gorge today. Its up river about 20 miles or so. Tourists refer to it as the mini Grand Canyon. Should be an interesting trip.

Well, it's gathering of very like minded people who get together a few times per year to share and show off their toys. I don't think they mind being crowded for a couple of days.

AKIQPilot
What a great trip up the river. We went up through the Topock Gorge past I40 to a super cool resort marina on Route 66. On the way back we came upon stranded boaters whose motor quit working. We towed them a few miles to a place they could get some help and retrieve their truck and trailer. It was a beautiful day and a nice trip up and back.

Serious question: would you ever consider leaving Alaska to live down where you are now?

Cool spot to camp - until a pack of caravaner's descends those cliffs & hacks you to pieces in your tent.

I’ve swam in it in June by Parker and I was surprised how cold it was. Still feels good on a summer day.

I would guess the river stays somewhat cool.
