I’ve been there....these guys that think it’s a cakewalk don’t get it and never will.

No one is saying it's a cakewalk.  But every job has it's pros and cons.  If you don't like it, BYE.  Our school has the same number of students as 20 years ago, but we have 2 times the staff and they built a building to make it a 3rd bigger in rooms.   Maybe the focus should be on that.

Per Bernie wage?

How's the bennie's package?

Horrible.  Healthcare is covered (medium level policy) but retirement is a tiny sliver of her salary.  She has been in the South Dakota retirement system for 7 years and has less than $3,000 banked from the state.  It's horribly disgusting.

Here the kids with LD's are the ones who are neglected by the education system the most.  The supports are in place with IEP's, but often they do not get implemented and unless the kids either advocate for themselves or parents speak up, they usually get left behind.  These are kids with mild learning deficiencies in say one subject that can easily be brought back.

My wife works with all the IEP development for her school.  It is truly sad the number of IEP kids that don't have involved or supporting parents.

It's the biggest argument supporting parents have against the schools,  when there is a serious disconnect between spec ed and the classroom teacher and the supports are not being met.

There are certain people that think Minimum Wage  is too much for teachers...these threads always go the same way and always will and it clears from your tone where you stand.

Why the blanket statement, can you give me an answer?  You accuse me of sarcasm in one response and then throw out a statement like this when I ask a question.  How about an answer tough guy?  I told you my mother was a teacher for 20+ years, your statement about my tone is misdirected and the comment was obviously made to guide this thread which I'm sure was apparent to most of the readers.  Put your fishing pole down and tell me what your thing a salary range for todays teacher should be.

You’re not happy....you’re pissed you’re paying taxes.  You’re not fooling anyone with your sarcasm so STFU

How about you focus on the discussion rather than my sarcasm.  I don't mind paying taxes, my kid is in a good school system and most of my tax money goes towards it.  You have an idea what a teacher should be worth or you going to just throw out comments like this as a response?

When your wife is pretty much the sole bread winner, you need that to be as much as possible.

Still waiting on what the experts on this site have to say.  All I get is deflection on how I don't want to pay taxes or that I must hate teachers.

If his wife is the sole bread winner of the family as a public educator and his argument is she needs to be paid more due to the poor financial planning on their part then he should have included this in the discussion.  There are barely any single income middleclass families left in this country, I wouldn't expect the salary of a public school teacher to provide privilege to his family so he can sit his fat ass on a couch all day while she works.  No sarcasm there......

I am still waiting on what job and salary you think these teachers should be comparable to.  You and many others have failed to answer this one simple question.

Already been answered.....you’re simply so fucking stupid you can’t decipher the answer unless it’s black and white.  Backread and STFU

Yes it does.  What school has doubled the teaching staff in 20 years with a flat enrollment.  That is scandalous and should be outed.

Neal

It's the support staff that has gone up.  Teacher aids, assistants, janitorial staff.

Yea, and even then doubling is outrageous.  Can you tell us what district please?

 Neal

I will try and get actual numbers first.  I have friends on the school board that may know exact numbers.

BTW, I still would like an answer on who teachers should be comparable with when it comes to salary figures.  That is what this thread is about, but no one seems to want to do that.

The following info is certainly over your head as you’re a simpleton in the truest sense of the word.....but try to wrap your pea sized brain around it....

Countries with exceptional student achievement treat teaching as a highly selective profession that is accorded tremendous prestige and competitive compensation," wrote the authors. "Only the very best students are admitted into teaching programs in Singapore, Finland, and South Korea, for example, and standards are especially high for elementary school teachers"

"The United States could consider options such as college grants for high-performing students who choose teaching, to remove the obstacle of future student loan debt," they add. "But regardless of the mechanisms chosen, teachers should be celebrated and respected as skilled professionals who provide a vital public service."
