  1. Lots of PC's have a slot that the SD card fits into. Just plug it in, works like a USB Memory stick. If it is one of the tiny SD cards, they often come with an adapter that the tiny card plugs into, then the adapter plugs into the PC. The adapter (or full size card) is about the size of a postage stamp. The tiny one is 1/4 that size (or less?).
  2. In my experience, the bug zappers attract 1000 bugs, and kill 500.
  3. Yup - I try to fill up at about a 1/2 tank these days. I know that over the longer term it doesn't matter, but it hurts a bit to see the $50 plus on the pump if I wait too much longer.
  4. For the most part, pre WWII, there was a big button to the right of the gas pedal. You put in the key, turn it to 'run' (no start option) and press the button with your toe. You could give it little gas with your heel, usually had to do that. There was no solenoid in those days, that switch in the floor carried the full current from the battery to the starter. If you didn't have the key, or it was off, the starter would still kick over if you pressed the button. There was probably a manual choke too. Pull knob out some, all the way if it's cold out. Push it in a little at a time as you drove the first few miles. Part of the reason there were no cup holders is that your hands were pretty busy just driving in those days.
  5. literally Literally never used correctly.
  6. I got Moderna. My wife got Pfizer. Both of us had zero side effects, except a sore arm for a day or so
  7. I'm sure our numbers are off some. I think China numbers are off by a much larger multiple.
  8. Do you believe any of those numbers from China are true???
  9. One of my daughters friends got both Covid and the flu at the same time a couple of months back. She was to lazy to get a flu shot (she said that, no inference from me about anti-vax), and managed to get exposed to both. She is a middle school teacher. Was pretty sick, out for a month or so. It happens, but I think it is rare. I think the masks and distancing did help with the flu. One thing they have been telling us all along is that Covid is more contagious than the flu, by quite a bit. That actually would explain very low flu numbers. In most of Asia (China, Japan, other countries) people in cities have been wearing a mask if they are sick for years. In their culture, it is considered a common courtesy to wear one to protect others if you are sick. I have seen it on the trains there multiple times. Was strange at first, but made more sense once someone explained it to me. This is in cities like Tokyo, Kyoto, Shanghai, Chengdu (China).
  10. If you are Japanese, buying from a Japanese is a very important part of the culture. They will always favor a Japanese product if possible. Most people live in cities, in apartments. They have no use for a truck. No toys to pull around, no property to take care of, and no place to park it. I have seen garages like this there. No way you are going to stuff an F150 into it, not even close.
  11. I agree - I signal rarely anymore, but will be more likely of someone is coming fast and I know someone in my group is right behind, but out of sight. I have been known to put up three fingers when there are two behind me in that situation. I never bother when there are good sightlines, or at night.
  12. They are making a lot of noise about water, fact is you can't pass out anything (cookies, drinks etc). Lets look at the question another way. If they don't think they can get an advantage from passing it out, why do they want to do it? Please don't say that a political party or candidate wants to give stuff to people who are about to vote out of the goodness of their hearts. The sure aren't trying to give stuff to people on their way out.
  13. In the early days of the Obama admin, when things went bad, they were happy to blame the previous administration. It's not right to take credit now if things are on the upswing. At this point in his presidency, I don't believe that anything Biden has done has effected the economy. Lets see where are in 2023. If things are good, Biden gets some credit. If not, they can't Blame Trump.
  14. Why would you sat that based on my comment? Please explain. FWIW - I voted for Trump, wanted him to win. Have been planning to get the vaccine (got my first dose last week) since October or before that. Only pointed out that some have flip-flopped based on the election results, which I think is stupid. Nothing about the safety or efficacy of the vaccine changed on election day.
  15. I have heard people say they would not take the vaccine in October, because it was 'Trumps' vaccine turn around and say that they would take it a week after the election. The politicization if this is mind boggling to me. The media was all riled up every time some restriction was loosened up until November. 'You have to follow the science!!!' Last week, the CDC says that 3 feet separation is plenty for schools, no need for six feet anymore (I heard a Dr on TV say the 6 feet was 'arbritary???'), no one questions the possibility that the CDC could have been pressured about this. If Trump was president, the media would be screaming.
  16. Yes, I think he does deserve credit here. I also think if he has been smarter about how he managed this accomplishment, he would be president now.
  17. That may be possible, I don't know. I do know that there has been a lot of progress in this area of science. Just because it wasn't ready for prime time 15 years ago, doesn't mean it isn't ready now.
  18. Developing a vaccine the 'traditional' way would take about 5 years. The new therapies are being used in many areas, and are pretty will characterized. This one was done using the mRNA techniques because it was possible (I don't think they could have done it 10 years ago), and because the feds threw plenty of money at it. They could afford to go all in on development, and the govt paid for a million doses before it was approved, weather it worked or not. This really did speed up the process substantially.
  19. She new what was going to happen before she pulled up. That's why the camera is on. I'm not saying the mask is necessary, or not - just that her goal is to stir the pot - not to get food.
  20. I don't know. I see an upward trend to the left of the red line, then leveled off for the most part for two months. From October on, the trend was a lot like that nationwide. Are you sure you can predict what the slope would have looked like without masks?
  21. Latest numbers are about 28 million have had it (should have antibodies), and 70 million have been vaccinated. That nearly 100 million, or 1/3 of our population. Holidays are over, it's winter, resturants and sports arenas are empty or at limited capacity. It only makes sense that numbers are going down. Hear much about the flu this year? Very light year for the flu. I would argue that handwashing, masks, and less interactions are a lot of the reason.
  22. I put a little light oil, like WD 40 on the studs. Especially on the trailer. Those studs get rusty. Seems to me you can have the opposite problem described in the video, there would be extra friction, and not enough tensile strength. I think a little oil helps break up the rust, and lets the nut spin freely. I would not think there would be a problem if it is not tightened beyond the torque spec.
  23. I am not a fan of the whole Defund the Police thing. But - it does seem like in some cases, it would be helpful if the cops could call on a mental health pro to help when kids are involved. I don't know how it would be managed, or how there would be someone who could be available at a moments notice, but it does seem to me that the police are not trained for this sort of thing. In some cases, if a cop has kids of their own, they may be able to manage these situations a little better. Treating a 9 year old the same as an adult is a recipe for failure. I also agree that a situation like this can be no-win. There may be no way to have a good outcome depending on the issues a kid may have.
  24. No one who is any good at their job stays at the starting salary for long. A raise typically comes in 3 - 6 months. It's too hard to get someone decent, worth paying a little more to keep them.
  25. In Mass (where I live) we need to get a state safety inspection every year. At that inspection, the mileage on the odometer is recorded. It's not perfect, because there is typically a federal, and stated gas tax. When I buy gas in a trip (say in Maine), the state tax for the gas I buy in Maine stays in Maine, presumably to improve the roads in Maine. Really, the best way to do it (and I hate to say this) is to have every car have a transponder, like the ones used on toll roads. Set up gantries on main roads, and track mileage that way. Do this for ALL cars, regardless of what type of fuel it uses. Then tax by the mile, which is how the current gas tax works (drive more miles, buy more gas, pay more tax). But - if this were to be the plan, the current gas tax would need to be eliminated.
