  1. I haven't worked on ships in 25 years, but what I spoke of was my personal experience on ships internationally, and on tugs and barges in this country, including Baltimore. We did not have anchors ready to drop when maneuvering. Not that it isn't a bad idea though. Either it is a newer requirement since I was a Merchant Marine, or it is a best practice you are doing.
  2. Sometimes it is a lot harder to drop the anchor without power. Often there is a riding pawl that locks the chain in. In that case it needs to be brought in a touch to release, or with more difficulty and dangerous, needing to be pried out. I found out I have a college classmate that is in charge of the NTSB investigation of this. It won't take long to figure out what happened. There are event recorders in the engine room as well as the bridge. The bridge likely has voice recorders also. Terrible accident.
  3. I am not a trump fan, but he is not wrong.
  4. WTF Steve.... Time to step back and evaluate yourself
  5. Yes. The power plants I have worked at all have hydrogen cooled generators. That has been around a longggg time. There are a few GE 7FA gas turbines in hydrogen fuel burning trials now. One is in Texas. I forget where the other is. That is much more likely feasible then setting up hydrogen fuel stations for residential autos.
  6. Classy. It was a simple question....
  7. I don't consider most rednecks the sneaker wearing folks.... They usually wear steel toed work boots when it is 90 degrees.
  8. 1996 Dodge Ram 1500 new off the lot after I graduated college and worked 6 months. paid cash.
  9. Every claim I have heard of has been dismissed. One of the schools the hoax originated from near Bangor Maine was proven to be untrue. Now there are definitely a lot of furies that I have seen over the past year. Kids wearing a fucking cat costume..... Meanwhile my son had to put a sweatshirt on over a Maine Moose hunting T-shirt....
  10. "We have hundreds of questions that we have to ask Hunter Biden," Comer said, noting that a public hearing is not an efficient setting to get answers to all questions. "If you have a public hearing, we may get to 35, 40 questions with five minutes each way. In a deposition, we can easily get 400-plus questions in."
  11. Of course that is what you got from this....WTF dude
  12. Luxury doesn't even come to mind when I think of a 1/2 ton truck. I have had terrible luck with Dodge and GMC. I hope my Tundra treats me better. Only time will tell. The Tundra has been superb towing.

  15. You are a weird fucker.
  16. Steve, you just can' stop can you? It's getting old dude...
  17. Wrong.. It baited my daughter in. She was a college student. Now that she is paying taxes and working, she is morphing her political views to the right.
  18. I know some democrats at work that support him. They would vote for him over Biden. There must be more. I have no idea how many republicans will vote for him either. I think many if it is Trump vs. Biden.
  19. It is more common then you would think. For men and women. My wife dealt with a lot of that situation. Many people have big hearts and want to help others. Not saying this is the case with what you are referring to, but not uncommon.

Just my simple opinion, I believe HSR is often out of line. If he is that way as a Mod, why should more be expected from other members. As I don't spend a huge amount of time here, how did he become a Mod anyhow? Did he change his name from a previously different one?
  21. Whatever. It looks like you greatly lowered the level to me. Just an outside looking in.
  22. What the fuck guy? Have some class.
