A lot of job creation goes along with those plans.

You can eliminate a lot of air travel with high speed rail.

That is a long way off at best and at what cost? Imagine the eminent domain that would be required. And what about overseas?

Notice that I used the words "a lot" and the word "all".

Of course there will be a cost, there always is with ambitious projects such as the Interstate system etc., our air transport network, etc., but then there are the economic benefits from such expenditures.

High speed rail is coming to the US, albeit slowly as compared to the rest of the world.

Don't you ever get tired of being afraid?

Of course there is job creation in making buildings green, and actually it's been going on for many years already, and the money invested today reaps savings in the future along with making the property more attractive and valuable.

Quote

Its proposals include “net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through a fair and just transition for all communities and workers;” job creation; infrastructure investment; guarantees of clean water, healthy food and sustainable environment; and a curiously undefined “access to nature.”

Beyond those broad proposals, the plan and accompanying documents from Ocasio-Cortez includes a range of far-fetched goals -- and drew swift scorn from Republicans and other critics. The Republican National Committee dubbed it a "socialist wish list" that would kill at least 1 million jobs and disrupt global trade -- while costing trillions.

The resolution, for instance, includes a proposal to “upgrade all existing buildings” in the country in order to achieve energy efficiency, safety, affordability, durability and comfort.

I can’t think of any good reason to give folks money that are “unwilling to work”. The whole thing just sounds rediculous. Incentivizing people not to work sounds like a real recipe for disaster.

I am not opposed to progress, that's how Vince and I make a living. But we work at two of the busiest airports in the world and I don't see these getting substituted anytime soon.

We have a crumbling infrastructure that needs to be fixed. Sounds like a perfect time to implement High Speed rails where possible. But then again....they can't even fix the roads around here or the city water systems. They raise taxes to do it but.....

They will NEVER be substituted.  We've already fucked up our rail system beyond rebuild to the extent it would serve well as interstate public transport.  And it doesn't matter..our system is old and incapable of high speed travel anyway.

This is idiotic pie in the sky bullshit.  We'd be better served talking about a high speed, coast to coast Autobahn type system over HS rail.

Poor cucked Vinny.

The point is looking at what a party wants to do.   Of course most of this they will never get thru but its what they will do because they don't get their way.   For example.   Can't get rid of all external combustion engines so they start attacking recreational ones.

What bugs me about AOC is she appears to be being propped up as the savior of the Democrat Party just like Obama was. Came out of left field and the media is all over her. Looks to me as she's being propped up as the next great hope. Can't quite believe how stupid she is though actually.

  My guess is this chick can't do her on financials and probably has a credit score of 400.    But she is the one to lead America economically into the future.   And you guys agree.   That's fucking priceless.

https://dailycaller.com/2019/02/07/ocasio-cortez-npr-chuck-todd-opposite/

When host Steve Inskeep asked whether she was ready to say that her plan would necessitate “massive government intervention,” she replied, “It does. It does. Yeah, I have no problem saying that. Why? Because we have tried their approach for 40 years.”

Later that day......

By Thursday evening, however, the congresswoman appeared to have changed her tune. Speaking with MSNBC’s Chuck Todd on “Meet the Press,” Ocasio-Cortez explained how she planned to sell her Green New Deal to the “rank and file” taxpayers — and argued that the right “mischaracterizes” what she intends to do.

“There is a couple things,” she began. “One is that I think one way that the right does try to mischaracterize what we’re doing is as though it is like some kind of massive government takeover. Well, obviously what we’re trying to do, obviously it’s not that because what we’re trying to do is release the investments from the federal government to mobilize those resources across the country.”
