How long before pulling the plug doesnt work?

Recommended Posts

As the world’s most powerful computer systems begin to embrace artificial intelligence in earnest, using smart algorithms to increase efficiency and and speed, the potential damage that a “rogue” AI could cause continues to grow. Many in the tech community have theorized how an artificial mind could turn against its creators, and Facebook just got an interesting lesson in how such a scenario might unfold. Facebook engineers were forced to pull the plug on one of the company’s AI systems after its bots began communicating with each other in a completely new language which humans simply couldn’t decipher.

What's going to get us first?

A. Artificial Intelligence

B. The Environment

Meteor stike or AI ........I'd bet on AI I guess. When logic and rational thought is employed by AI treating humans benevolently will not compute

Why does every scenario with AI lead to a doomsday for mankind?  Maybe AI will take over and solve the worlds problems for us.   Make a society where nobody has to work and we all get yachts and turbo charged 300 HP 200 lbs sleds to ride and trails that never get rough and endless amounts of powder that only falls where it doesn't need to be plowed.

That is absolutely a possibility .....AI could usher in an unprecedented age of prosperity and wealth for all mankind if implemented properly and with a lot of luck.

The point of the doomsday stuff though is the realization that AI could wipe mankind off the face of the earth in a very short amount of time if it chose to

We simply dont know and we arent prepared for what we are about to achieve
