Haha....my sister complained to my mother when told her 10% over cost. It took 2 phone calls with my mom to explain I have fixed overhead and she was welcome to pay the typical 50% gross margins elsewhere. My son just helped a buddy by building a 20x40 deck that was quoted 40k by a contractor. The contractor said that he wouldn't be able to do it until late fall. He whined to my son about not having a deck for the summer so my kid said that he'd give him a hand which turned out was him working basically alone on his one day off the whole summer. He wanted me to help him prep and paint his car so I’m like sure why not I’ll help you out key word help. We’d work on it a day and I’d give him tasks to get ready for the next weekend when I’d come by again to work on it. Every time he get nothing done over the week so after about a month of this I said fuck this I’m to busy sorry.
