It's become far too big, far too powerful, far too corrupt now. They will protect their own now and as long as the people keep fighting that their side is really better nothing changes. They find it very easy to keep the people fighting amongst themselves so they can do what they want. Only thing left to do is split the country in half and let one party have each forever.
