It quotes Michael Colborne, who prior to the war wrote extensively on the neo-Nazi Azov Battalion: What worries me, in the Ukrainian context, is that people in Ukraine who are in leadership positions, either they don’t or they’re not willing to acknowledge and understand how these symbols are viewed outside of Ukraine. The NYT notes: So far, the imagery has not eroded international support for the war. It has, however, left diplomats, Western journalists and advocacy groups in a difficult position: Calling attention to the iconography risks playing into Russian propaganda. The Times reveals its own role in attempting to suppress the circulation of Ukrainian tweets with photographs featuring Nazi iconography that expose the fascist politics and culture that dominate the Kiev regime. Putin isn’t going anywhere. All the Ukrainian army is doing is playing whack a mole with the Russians. After the Russians level an area they move to another area to destroy while the Ukrainian government asks for more stuff. If the Russian army was so bad and the Ukrainian army was so good, why are the Russians still there?? Because Russia isn’t that bad at fighting a war and Ukraine isn’t that good at fighting a war.
