Had a Lambo parked outside the motel a couple nights at the race in Chicago. The thing actually looked beat to shit. Even the rims were all ground up from hitting the curb. Never seen who owned it. 1 Quote

They are a very wide car, could definitely see some curbing of wheels happening. But to have the money not to care..lol Quote

Nope - service manager says it’s probably a $300k car being it’s the right hand drive imported from Japan “Honda” NSX Type-R. It gets to sit inside while parts are in transit…😉 1 Quote

Gold Donating Member Doug Posted July 14, 2024 Author Gold Donating Member Posted July 14, 2024 I appreciate the new technology and give credit to the guys making the HP and torque numbers that they do. It's great 👍 I'm just an old school guy of long gone times of changing cams, adjusting valve lash on mechanical lifters, jet changes, timing changes and hoping the thing doesn't throw a rod or burn a valve. Oh the times. Quote

Platinum Donating Member Blackstar Posted September 20, 2024 Platinum Donating Member Posted September 20, 2024 Last week an old family friend and neighbour stopped by to invite me to a private car show at his house, by invitation only. He said to bring my blue truck if I could make it. I didn’t think I could afford the time off but thanked him for thinking of me. Well, this morning I said screw it, told my employees to go work without me, did 2 service calls, grabbed my truck and texted I was on my way. There was a dozen or so people there with their vehicles. Each of us had to give a speak about the vehicle we brought. Pop, beer, sandwiches and carrot cake. Met some great people. 6 Quote
Platinum Donating Member Blackstar Posted September 20, 2024 Platinum Donating Member Posted September 20, 2024 (edited) Then tonight I took the old lady to the local cruise night. Weather was great and the place was packed. Wish I took more pics but I ended up talking to old friends more than looking at vehicles. This convert is a 27k original mile 1957 Meteor Rideau 500 (similar to a Fairlane) was bought from a local dealer. Marketed only in Canada by Ford, one of 600ish ever built. And the interior and dash/gauge lay out in those cars is unbelievable. The car was bought by the owner in 1980. He did a bunch of work to it then sold it to guy in Boston 4 years later. In 2014 he received a letter in the mail asking if he would like to buy the car back. The owner had died and his family had found the name and address in the glovebox. So he bought it back. Apparently he sold it to a collector. The guy had bought it and stored it all this time along with 25-30 other cars. When he got the car home he found out the car was still registered in his name because the other guy never registered it, never drove it. Amazing. Edited September 20, 2024 by Blackstar 2 Quote
