EV Christmas fail

Snake

Recommended Posts

A Virginia radio personality said he had to cancel Christmas plans because his Tesla S electric car would not charge during the ongoing freezing weather that has afflicted much of the United States.

Domenick Nati told Insider that he plugged his electric car into a supercharger on Friday when it was 19 degrees outside. The car's battery level was at 40% at the time.

"Two hours went by and not much changed," Nati told the outlet. "It was very slow and the numbers got lower as the temperature dropped. Eventually, it stopped charging altogether."

Nati said he tried charging the car at home, but having no luck there he went to another supercharger Saturday afternoon.

Not saying it hasn't happened before. People try and start their ICE vehicles and sometimes they don't start either. Shit happens.

But because it's an EV you're making a big deal about it.

Boo hoo.

Richie McDouche can’t make it home for the birth of baby Jebus.

Hallmark gonna use this for sure,  to make suburban white females jealous somehow.

But you can jump it ...

Some ICE vehicles need good batteries to run. Even if you jump they won't run properly if they run at all.

They typically run fine when the engine heatsoaks the battery and the alternator starts sending some juice.

Sometimes yes. Sometimes no. If a batteries frozen it takes more than a heat soak.

Hit both steering wheel buttons for around 10 seconds and restart the computer…. Kind of similar to control alt delete or shutting your phone down and restarting it.   Solves most issues with computers many times before freaking out.

Soft reboot and then a hard reboot.  If it’s still fucked then freak out I guess.  Most all EV’s have this procedure…  lots of computer controls and a glitch can happen.

It’s also kind of like having your own code reader and ability to reset a CEL which I know a few guys have code readers they carry for their vehicles…  especially diesel guys.  I think it’s a phone app and something they can plug into the Ob2 ports on their diesels.

Bottom line it sucks when you have issues with vehicles.

I had an 09 duramax that had fuel pressure issues that couldn't be figured out and would constantly go into limp. I just left my code reader plugged in and erased it and it was gtg until it did it again.

Definitely sucks when vehicle issues arise.

You would figure if it were just a computer reset Telsa would have responded to the story..

Customer service being shitty during holidays like Christmas shouldn't be a surprise.
