Didn't want to even look at the sled after that. Fun sled for about 50 miles. It's a 1985 Indy 600 SE with a trail version SLP 700 RZ reed valve motor with triple pipes.

But again, no way I'm doing 100+ miles on one of those, much less the 200 we average on the new stuff. Ride and seating position is just sooooo much better for our old bodies, not to mention when trails get rough. Great and fun sled an XCR440 is. A 1991 XC400 Geo (440) is on the wish list if I would ever find one

When the trails are trashed out is the only time I'm even interested in riding a new iron. Otherwise it just becomes boring. Even still I rode about 50 miles of bumps, 25 out and 25 back on the zr 9 recently and I had a blast with it actually. Most of the time I trail ride there are no bumps at all so it was pretty fun to dodge around them, skim them or smash through them.

The newer sleds we hardly ever ride more than 120 miles and stay in one spot now. Oh I know what you're saying... used to do that as well but man, my body could handle that more years ago. I have gone in the opposite direction. 200 mile days are common, more the norm actually with some of the guys I ride with. We do saddle bag/over night trips more often. Actually had a few guys I haven't ridden with in about 3 years come up a few weeks ago, and after they did their first 200 mile day, they couldn't go home without doing two back to back! Never would have gotten them to do that even as little as 6-8 years ago.

You don’t want to upset the local snowmobile club for littering and get the trail closed 1
