Pretty much writing her own ticket, because people flat ass don't want to work anymore. Her white friends that were partying , getting pregnant, capitalism isn't working that great for them, but her black friend, who busted her ass......Things are pretty damn good. It's about to get a whole lot better too. Decent help is drying up incredibly fast right now, just being reasonably intelligent and showing up will do people getting into the workforce now very well. Others, well..they'll do better too but their successes will be more in the ways of work options. Let's face it, some will not succeed no matter what. It's not in their DNA. Either you want to win and are willing to work, or you are completely indifferent about it.

What's so bad about acknowledging that race, gender, and class status gives some people an advantage over others? Just because a few of the privileged fail doesn't mean privilege doesn't exist. And just because a few unprivileged have succeeded doesn't mean privilege doesn't exist, either.

Man, you should hear a lot of the stories of some of these ones that have "succeeded". I cannot think of one I've run into that came from much at all or had any advantage given to them along the way. The only ones I can think of that DID have an advantage were, believe it or not, non-white. And they even admit to it. I love to talk to "successful" people to learn how they got to where they are...all types, white, blue and grey collar. Some of these stories are amazing and inspiring. And by "successful" I don't men mega rich. I mean just the ones that own their own business and enjoy what they do and do it well...and are paid accordingly. I don't know what your experience is, but it's tough out there. And it's REALLY tough to get at what most consider a "successful level". Most can't get back into "the game" after the first big set-back. Because the set-backs are usually massive and career or business ending because of a poor judgement call or a mistake in ones own self proclaimed super-knowledge system. Ask me how I fucking know that....then ask me how I was able to explain to my wife that we damn near lost everything we worked for....TWICE! Ooooof. Snoslinger
now on the other end of the spectrum.... i know people born with a silver spoon in their mouth, who either work for dad, or inherited dad's business, and think that because they went to college and make outstanding coin, it's easy for others to do it as well.
