If the 2009 pandemic had been much more deadly would that have been a better thing for humanity? No one would dispute that. And given that we already have flu vaccines, they never would have needed EUA approval for a mRNA equivalent. We never had that option with COVID though. Growing/making vaccines the traditional method would have taken years if not a decade to make this many doses. Put this in perspective. Over 9.5 billion doses have been administered globally. Lets say we have 100 facilities worldwide making the vaccine that have been pumping them out since about September 2020 or about 16 months. That's 41,472,000 seconds. That means all 100 facilities are pumping out around 230 doses per second (24/7) since then. In any rate its an amazing feat of production especially given the supply chain issues today and the cold storage challenges of the Pfizer vaccine.
