Tranny is broke, driveshaft launched thru the decking and roof, but didn’t get to Ken as it was finding an exit point. This continues to be the year of “never seen that before”. At Paragon Speedway

Seen that break a guys arm years ago.  They use to run hoops but with so much rear steer now that's not practical anymore.  Like Racingfarmer said carbon fiber is the safe way to go.

Hell yeah Harvick…on a roll.👊🏻😎

Good for Harvick.  Rodney Childers his crew chief really holds Kevin and the team on the same page.  Rodney actually did a lot of dirt late model racing before coming into Nascar.

Went down south to do some racing, had horrible luck, found ourselves at Knoxville.  I hadn't been there is 23 years.

We gave up on leaving town until sun up this morning.

Going to drag the carcass off the trailer tonight and start the post-mortem.

So what did you all wreck?  As long as the frames straight you should be good.

Crate.

At least it's no trip to the frame shop.  Almost all the mods around here are running IMCA and create motors.  Some of the guys are going to IMCA stock car and getting away from the create motors.

Three racers here running stock cars.  All of them are running the 500 cfm engine rules.

The Iceman is coming. 🥶

Take a look at Kimi Raikkonen's PROJECT 91 car for his NASCAR Cup Series debut race this weekend at Watkins Glen International.

I saw a clip on YouTube of Kimi testing a Cup car in VA.

A photo Knoxville Raceway posted.  For 1 long weekend a year, the town of 7500 grows by 25,000.

How, you ask?

Vehicles, campers, and haulers are parked all over town.  Businesses, churches, people's yards, back alleys, etc.

It isn't uncommon to see a sprint car getting pushed across down down the highway at 1am.

It would be something else to see Ross win the cup and seeing Hamlins head explode.

You're probably right! But SR. Won 7 cups driving in a similar fashion at times.

Remember the time he said " I didn't mean to spin him out, I just meant to Rattle his cage"

The 1969 Daytona 500 got off to a bizarre start.  The 500 was to be the debut of the New Boss 429 engine along with the new Talladega Torino and Mercury Cyclone Spoiler II.   NASCAR/ACCUS declined to let the Ford teams race the Boss 429 or the Mercury citing insufficient numbers of Production cars that had been built.    So what is bizarre is that NASCAR/ACCUS ruled that the Ford teams would all have to run the Talladega Torino powered by the Tunnelport 427 engine......now the standard 429 debuted in late 1967 in the 1968 Thunderbird.........Boss 429 Mustang production began late in 1968.........but there had NEVER been a tunnelport ENGINE sold to the public by Ford, much less a tunnelport car ever produced.    Regardless the picture below shows the garage area empty of Ford on Qualifying day as the teams scrambled to put everybody in 427 Powered Torinos.........heading the effort for the supply of engines was a young Holman Moody employee named Robert Yates.  The Dodge camp was elated thinking it would be a slam dunk for them putting the Fords in the older 427 engine.   Coming to the end of the 500 , Charlie Glotzbach was leading Lee Roy Yarbrough by nearly 3/4 of a lap.   Charlies crew was already starting to celebrate........then unbelievably......the aerodynamic efficiency of the Talladega Torino showed his hand as Lee Roy easily erased the half lap lead and passed Glotzbach on the the final lap in turn 3.   Though it is pure speculation there was a claim that the entire situation was orchestrated by Ford president Bunkie Knudsen, who , just happened to be Bill France's best friend.   Word was that Ford foundries were having serious quality issues casting 429 Blocks and they simply were not ready for Daytona and that the move to FORCE them to go back to the 427 was requested to France by Knudsen.

It's tough to decide which era I liked best. So cool how very different each manufacturer was back then compared to today's cookie cutter cars.
