Doesn’t what we typically think of as “cancel culture” really just boil down to free speech?  Complaining is a protected right.

No.  And yes!

What is happening nowadays that DC and local state fascist leadership has realized that they will not and cannot pass this shit through traditional means because what they are doing is eliminating individual constitutional rights.  What they CAN DO is force businesses to do it with the threat of fines/penalties or other.

This is how they’ve gotten away with this Pandemic horse shit.

Both the left and the right in this country are caught in a perpetual state of butthurt snowflakism. It’s fucking pathetic. Then you have libertarians and people who’s brains work who have never advocated for any of it.

It’s like the Dems go off the tracks defending someone stupid trans bullshit or something and 5 minutes later the right wing is trying to draw equivalency to a confederate flag or something equally as retarded. It’s a fucking race to the bottom

Anything can be overturned with new legislation.  There is no good "cancel culture" and what the liberals think they are doing is going to end up poorly by stomping on rights that would be tough to pass in the legislative process.

Oh there absolutely is some good "cancel culture".

When a business owner repeatedly pisses off the entire community and everyone quits shopping there because of it, is that bad, is it "cancel culture"? What we call cancel culture now is just what's been happening for a long time on a larger scale because the Internet has made it so easy. Corporations have an interest in protecting their brand and they do so when the free market speaks and threatens the profitability of their company.

What's stupid about liberals is this idea that anybody who makes a single mistake has to be cancelled or should be cancelled for some shit that happened twenty years ago.

The argument of conservatives is disingenuous because nobody truly believes that all cancel culture should not exist. All we have to do is look at history to know that. Conservatives are upset because now the tables have turned.

Agreed.  But “cancel culture” is now a very broad term.

And alot of this country supports the government having that power, don't kid yourself.

Conservatives just don't like it in this instance.

It’s brilliancy that’s been around since Caesar.  “Divide and rule (conquer)” and DC has made it an art like no other in the world.

It’s easy really, we eliminate anyone defending DC...then DC.

Conservatives have a valid point, even if for selfish reasons.  The left is finding ways to chip away at our rights BLATANTLY.  At least “conservatives” go about it in a way they know it is wrong and illegal.  Lol

It's the new abortion for Republicans, because just like abortion they can milk it for a long time and never have to answer for their failures. They'll use it as a wedge issue and have their adherents convinced they're going to actually do something to fix it.

And the same idiots who used to defend free speech are the same ones trying to ban it now.   So, really who is the bigger idiot?

there is a difference between not liking a business, show or whatever, because of your religious beliefs or whatever crazy reason, and simply choosing not to buy from that company, Vs the liberal view that when they dont like it, then it needs to be banned.

Now, I think these are “whataboutisms”?

Sure, on those people's part IF they didn't make any other arguments.

Whataboutism doesn't mean never mentioning other people's stance on a subject, it means never discussing the faults of the people you support and only "whatabout" for the people you disagree with.

No argument here.

The people wanting to ban video games and the people who think words are violence are the same level of idiocy.

Right.  That’s what I thought.  So, a spin on hypocrisy.
