@X2700 - I put on a quick 35'ish miles, running from the Staehli Park area up towards County 5 and then looped over towards County 15 and down through Wohlers and up County 2. Then took the left to head back towards Lake City and ran the ditch to my buddy's place on County 9. It was damn near perfect - the LC (or Bellechester?) club groomed and I was the first tracks on it ... riding the ribbon!!!

I left my buddy's place and decided to try the "old route" down through the quarry and along County 9 to Lake City ... glad I did, just for the fact it proved it can be done. I ran the trail to the point of where it's closed, and then ran the ditch to the grade school & over towards the pool ... then the road around the dog kennel to connect back on the trail where it intersects with Hwy 63.

Thought I'd share that with you in case you wanted to come into town that way for a gas stop, or at least an easier route into town vs. the roundabout way.

Took rmk out for some drift banging yesterday afternoon and took part of Millville to Elgin trail and it’s pretty tough!

The hill yesterday

last bit of the holiday traffic this weekend. it wasn't that busy from the way we went , but big groups. everyone was respectful , let us by , stayed on their own side. a lot of it was beat up. there was fresh snow as well . we hammered the bumps as usual . ended up going to copenhagen , got fuel and ate at the cottage. good lunch there. decided to go through the fields back to the hill. first few were scratchy , almost turned back , but it got better and better. once back on the hill it must have been groomed, much better . went down mcgoldricks which was nice. highmarket was packed. then we rode north road from there and saw why everyone was chilling. that section was beat to death. we ran good speeds to smooth it out. but it was bad. plummer better but still beat. it has been tough up there with traffic and i think some groomer issues. and powder snow. it was a blizzard most of the day and visibility was awful. didn't matter, we had fun anyway . i built my sled for that shit and it performed very well.

Last night I had convinced myself I was taking a day off… NOT!

Took the boy out for a quick rip this afternoon. Only saw 5 other sleds.

Been out the last 4 days, 2 on the Cheetah, 2 on the 2020. Kinked neck for the last 2 weeks, so I'm a little limited to the miles and pace.

Lynx rat sled is still fighting me, so I'm going to war with in the evenings after work this week.

Beating the odds

forecast was not good locally and at the hill last night/this morning. ice , my least favorite. i'll drive through lots of snow but the shiny shit is a no go. got up 450am , checked roads , all green , no alerts. raining towards the hill. it rained hard almost to barneveld. then light. get to smith rd , holy shit that was slick . kept pace and cleared it no issue. next hill , solid white! we hit the snow line. one other truck besides us. we took off to fresh snow, and lots of branches down. way to many for us to conquer, but we did our best. formed a group to move a good sized tree out of the way. worked north , less snow , more hard. frozen carbide grooves tough to navigate at times. then they switched back to sweet. really unreal conditions for what was forecast. we had lunch at tuggers, only ones there. went back through , conditions minced up a bit made it even nicer. we found north rd from tabolts to mcgoldricks beat up a bit , so we turned around and ran it again. down the railbed , holy shit that was fast. north-south good as i have ever seen it. michigan mills beat up but, we like that so it was a nice rip. got in the woods towards barrows, went through what we made clear in the morning only to find a big tree down. at least it didn't land on anyone. ran rd to highmarket , few sleds there. north rd had some bumps but not like saturday, another nice rip. got back to the truck , 130 miles. well worth driving up in the pouring rain. my sled finally out of break in. running very good. my 7s display lost gps connection after lunch. came back for a bit but now no satellites. antenna attached, updated software even though it had current update, disconnected battery. nothing. still has tug hill map showing , no arrow, no altimeter, clock is wrong. i know i can set it but the gps usually does it.

And stretch said they weren’t grooming… he’s annoying.
