Drive 200 miles, unload and ride, drive 200 home. People do that every weekend here. No where to recharge.

You aren’t doing that with a gas rig either unless you fill up. Just plug in and charge when you need.  Just like gas....  fill when you need  It’s kind of like filling with gas but with electric “pumps” instead of gas pumps.

the Hummer is the most intriguing one to me right now.  I shopped V's over the last 6 months-  I considered a Model Y but they feel cheap.  I don't like the X end of the day I was looking for a used Model S when i said fuck it and bought a new pickup.  Maybe next time.

I have Model Y on my short list for next vehicle purchase but have not looked at one real close.  Did you drive one or look at one up close?

Dude...I'm no stranger for performance and my tundra has long tubes and a tune bringing to some serious HP but.....I'm not about to go racing with another truck over it all.  That's weird to me.

I'm not a fan of all these new touch screens.  Fingerprints everywhere, and you can't tell me they're more intuitive or easy to use while driving.  Looks cool as hell in the showroom, but out on the road, you're taking your eyes off everytime you're trying to adjust the heat, change the radio station, etc., when before you could usually just do it by feel, or finding the knob.  This new RAM I have is screwed together and goes down the road really nice, but not a fan of all the circular knobs, being so close together, or the touch screen for almost everything.

I rode in one.  Rode well but the quality is not great and the minimalistic look interior I don't love but that is personal choice.  And I'm a guy who would love to live in a vanilla box.  Guy who owned it has had several fixes done post delivery as it was clearly rushed out.  Common complaints are thin paint and panel gaps but thats been the case since the 3 rolled out.   It just didn't feel like a 50-60k car.

15 P90D  was what I finally started hunting hard for but there was not much up here.  Pre facelift has the best looks IMO.

EV’s are pretty convenient unless you are a drive that needs to go more then the range everyday....  but it is nice to be able to fill at home instead of wasting time at a gas station filling up.

everything falling to touch is something i miss about my 14 Silverado,  everything just fell where it should be and no need to look.  the buttons on this F150 are too small.  Even after driving the explorer for 3 years and 50k miles i still could not do that in it.

Outside of my 2-3 drives a year to OH (which I will be done with soon) I would be fine with a 3-400 mile range.  Plug it in the garage(where I already have a sub panel that can feed a 240 outlet) every night and range anxiety would never be a concern.

I’m gonna be in the market this year and would like to go hybrid or EV.  A lot of options coming on the market in the next 6-18 months.  Depending on what’s available - I’ll either go that route in 2021 or buy bridge vehicle for a year or two and then give it to one of the kids.

Yes I knew that.

The only ticket I ever had was from excessive acceleration, only went +/- 500 feet but got stopped, was 1969, fine was $23. LOL

HA I got one of those too driving a 1979 Malibu Wagon.  The Dragon Wagon! had like a 267 sbc in it, can't find those cars anywhere today.

Come on BOHICA I know you're a smart guy...  really?

People drive here from the Twin Cities for day rides every day of the winter.  The 2 chargers in town are of the 8-12 hour charge rate, and you'd have to park your trailer somewhere else to use them.  They usually have Nissan Leafs plugged into them, saw a model X there once with the gull wing door - was pretty cool.  It's people that work downtown.  So you'd have to try to find a charger in Duluth somewhere (?) and wait and wait, IMO the casinos should all invest in large charging areas but around here the closest casino big enough is 70 miles away.  That's just ALL of northern MN, and probably 80% of sledding areas across the country.

Ya same. If I need to go farther then 400 just plan my lunch stop...  plug in and get me enough charge to have 500+ mile day.  Then plug in at the hotel while I sleep at a public charger.  Wake up with a full tank again ready to rip.  I could easily make it to my “snowmobile” area if that was my thing....   that is like a 100 miles away or less from my front door depending where I wanted to unload

That RAV 4 prime would not be a bad ride.  Wife would not drop down in size I was thinking it would have been perfect to replace the highlander.  Wife rarely drives more than 40 miles in a day.

It will work for most pickup owners.  Most of the time they haul air.   There will be case where an EV pickup would be inconvenient for some.

I watched a vid of the f150 hybrid on YouTube...   they did a short 70 mph mpg loop and got 29 mpg from it when calculated at the pump.  They did the same loop pulling a trailer and it got like 9 mpg.  For me a hybrid would be convenient enough as you can’t plug in at home

I had a brand new one as a loaner for a couple days.  Definitely one of the Hybrids I’d consider but have not researched the Prime.  I have a Camry now and like the dealer plus it’s been a very inexpensive vehicle to own - first one I’ve owned outside the big 3.  I’m also interested to see the specs on their new Tundra Hybrid.

Jeep has the 4xe coming out also.

If I go EV - 400 mile range is the target.

You're right it will work for most people and if it fits your bill that's what is important.  I was getting at for any distance with a recharge is a real issue when you have a timeline with a destination.

I saw that also.  But they have an EV F-150 coming out late 2021 or 2022.

I think with the machE and the Etransit  Ford will be out of credits...  they kind of are fucking it up in my opinion...  they should have come with an EV f150 first.  they are going to really have to price it competively to these start ups to make it work in masses

why do the interiors in all these electric vehicles look like something out of a bad futuristic space movie?

They dont have alot of the stuff that an IC engine does so there is less need for alot of the space. No coolant, no transmission, and all of the other stuff that is engineered into the styling to accomodate the space. EV you just need a info screen and a steering wheel.

Those Rivians are intriguing for sure.  If going electrotruck, that's the way I'd go.  I think my first foray into pure electric will be with my wife's next vehicle though.  She has a compact SUV now, which is the perfect run-around-town vehicle.  We've owned it since early 2017 and only once has it gone on a trip beyond what a single full fuel tank was capable of reaching.  My truck is the long hauler/tow-shit-across-the-desert vehicle.
