   You can't make this shit up if you tried.   9 months after the virus hits the US and AFTER the election CNN is now claiming China was untruthful about the virus.

I already  posted it but it’s worth a double post. We are going to see a ton of things that would’ve been helpful to trump for the election come out now

You need to put some thread topic context in your posts.    I double post stuff you put up not knowing what the post is all the time with your threads.

Please describe in a little detail what you would have liked him to do.

Tell us how he mishandled the response.

Give him some time. MC has to cue some CNN and MSNBC articles then he'll be right back spewing the news as if they are his own thoughts. :news:

Why not start a thread about Trump mishandling the response to Covid?

Ah Yeah the usual deflection from your orange traffic cone leader.

Please outline how he mishandled it with facts and data to support your claim

It seems almost ironic that we express our distrust in their policies and communications, yet we took their "official" statements as gospel.  Shame on those that relied on the press releases.  Distrust is a useful tool that we often use with China.  It seems like we left that tool in the bag too long.  The truth was already coming out by late December and yet it was largely ignored.  Sometimes our willingness to hear good news and hope clouds the truth.

A quick summary of the response can be viewed in the handling of a single person, Li Wenliang.  His case is a perfect example of how it was handled.  He was presenting the closest thing to facts about what was known at the time.  The information was becoming available to the world outside the bubble.  The information was largely ignored by most of the world and then publicly quashed within the bubble.  What does that mean?  The world ignored the available truth and listened to the public statements.  We can blame China all day long if we want.  But, they did the same thing we did.  Public statements are great marketing even when they overlook the truth.  Science doesn't do well with marketing.

There is no simple answer on how it should have been handled.  There still isn't a simple answer on how it should be handled today.  We still have a willingness to hear good news and hope.  Science is boring, slow, and sometimes downright depressing.  That makes it damn tough to market.  People like Li Wenliang die with the science while the world tunes into the marketing.

Great points and look no further than the words of The President to Bob Woodward contrasted with his public statements.
