It was legal to burn witches too....awful low fucking bar you set there

That was only locally done not legal nationwide. What 1 town back then? Salem.

The Salem witch trials were indeed held in Massachusetts. However, in 1692, when these trials took place, Massachusetts was not "American" at all. It was a British colony, and therefore fell under British rule and law. In other words, the Salem Colony was not American in 1692, because "America" didn't exist. In fact, it didn't exist until about eighty years later. Also, no one has ever been burned at the stake for witchcraft in America. In Salem, a number of people were hanged, and one was pressed to death. It is unlikely that any of those people were actually practicing any sort of witchcraft (except possibly Tituba), and more likely that they were all just unfortunate victims of mass hysteria.

Thirty years prior to Salem, in 1662, a similar trial took place in nearby Hartford, Connecticut, although it was certainly on a smaller scale. Four people were executed for the crime of witchcraft—but again, this was during the Colonial period, so these were not truly American laws.

Statues of folks who owned them shouldn't be torn down as they did nothing wrong while alive.

They did nothing wrong? Is it your contention that if the US Government says it's legal then it's perfectly acceptable?

It WAS legal THEN and was ACCEPTED by the folks who kept electing them to pass or reject Laws, Government is the people and you or anyone else can run for office if you so choose too.

I don’t need to read anything.

The notion that something being legal means it wasn’t wrong is absurd.

Many believe lots of things that are Legal shouldn't be or shouldn't have been Legal, who makes those decisions? Referendums, Petitions, running for offices to change Laws to what you want them to be, people who Vote..it used to be Legal to Drink & drive many years ago, then the Laws were changed, same can be said about 100's maybe 1000's of things that were Legal and not Criminal, times change but by tearing down Statues and trying to erase History doesn't make the Past any better..if some wants Statues removed then go about it Lawfully, not by Riots destroying property of others, how would you like it if the rioters were to come to your neighborhood to Burn and tear it down including your home or Business?

You're rambling.........

Laws have nothing to do with morality or what's right or wrong. Just like you said, laws change all the time so how could the law decide what's right or wrong?

I didn't say anything about tearing down statues but since you asked, people burning down homes and businesses should expect to be shot.

Decent people can change laws by participating in creating those changes which some consider morally right Laws.
