It's clearly capitalism doing what it always does.

Co-opting a message to sell more product.

They want the appearance of a social conscience. They still don't have one, but they want that appearance because they think it sells in this social environment.

See, now you just made total sense.  Just like nascar.  they don't give a fuck-all about any other color other than green, and they line their pockets and their sponsor's pockets with it any way they can.  They're die-hard race fans will still watch, and they'll likely open up the doors to a bit of a new demographic that will tune in and spend some of their hard earned dollars, even if it's only for a one time deal, they make money off of them.

They don't give a fuck about some flag.

Everyone knows Aunt Jemima led the pancake brigades against slavery in the Waffle Wars of the 1860s. Her most important victory, considered the turning point in the struggle, was the battle of maple syrup.

You gotta admit it is a bid ridiculous, at this stage of the game with these corporations and all their virtue signaling.  Re naming 100+ year old iconic brands in almost every house holds cupboards?  Ok sure.  They should have just issued a milquetoast statement standing behind their products, maybe cut a couple checks to some charities.  Because, whats next?   I'll make a point of not buying it.  I think Aldi's syrup is called "Aunt Maple".  I hope no one finds that offensive.

This is the truth.

Sad too.

If they actually cared, they wouldn't wait for the public narrative.

It is our culture.  Money runs the game.

I get it.  I'm still not a fan of how we do it in a reactionary manner.  You don't get rewards for doing the right thing just because it is the right thing.  You get rewards when you do it because someone, (societal pressure, etc.) tells you it is the right thing.

Nah, I don't give a fuck out there. It's just around my house that I don't want some animal rights activist knowing I'm a hunter.
