People still use them?

The last radar detector I had was a  valentine one..loved it but it has sat in my garage now for several years because of those false positives from other cars. I think they had an update for that but I didnt bother. I pretty much gave up on detectors and keep it at 9mph over the limit and never have a problem. The times that I do romp on the petal are usually short spans and I just take my chances.

Back roads, backwoods, early morning, late at night. Not worth the time/money/aggravation to do it otherwise. If I'm late, I'm late. Save the shenanigans for your own time. 6-10 over is appropriate given the circumstances. Other than that, slow and steady wins the race.

Why do you need to break the law exceeding the speed limit enough to warrant a radar detector.

You should get a hobby that involves a little speed. You wont need to carry out your agression on the highways endangering others.

Valentine is still a top performer for long range and you can still send in the older ones for software updates . I think the new Valentine still has no sensitivity or gps settings but still a top rated long range unit .

I like the aps for community alerts tied in with the gps with passport/escort

First part: probably won't get you a ticket, 10 over isn't that bad. :dunno:

Second part: "kikes me down". I just about pissed myself, my autocorrect made me spell it three times. That's some funny shit!

It's gotten pretty high tech now, BUT you used to be able to Scramble/Jam radar, but you wouldn't want to get caught doing that now.

Let's be honest. If you're going 10-20 over, you in more often than not cases won't get pulled over. If you're doing 140 on the highway, the man is going to pull you over regardless. He'll fudge the numbers and you'll go to court. Then, like you said, add jamming a police radar (not even sure what that crime would be) but I'm willing to bet it wouldn't be kind. Still not worth it, IMO.

Absolutely! btw, it's a Federal offense to Jam police radar.

I've been driving for 56 years now, never once got a speeding ticket, got stopped in 1963 for 10 over but was let go, I generally drive no more than 5 over and set the cruise that way.

Not a fan, personally. There's too much shit going on around me. People merging, jackass that passes only then to pull in front of you and slow down, etc. I know that it turns off if you hit the skinny or fat peddle , but I can anticipate my driving style based on traffic conditions with my feet, not fiddling around with the console.
