Platinum Contributing Member steve from amherst Posted October 13, 2018 Platinum Contributing Member Share Posted October 13, 2018 One of the cleanest burning oils (inside the engine and outside residue) we’ve used is Blue Marble, but it is very expensive. It also claims to be ISO EGD rated, but from an anecdotal standpoint we’ve had two engine failures out of the two sleds we used it in; a crank failure on a 2004 Switchback 800 and a piston seizure on a 2005 Switchback 900. The power valves were very clean though, more so than when using the Polaris VES oil. We have been using this oil in our personal watercraft for less smoke and smell. Yes, and is suppose to be decent and long rumored to be the same as Yamalube? https://www.dootalk.com/forums/topic/531968-anyone-use-blue-marble-oil/ I use regular Shell dino sno-mo oil in my 95 triple XLT without issue and have for years. I wish Produmax was still around as that was, imo, the best Dino oil ever produced.

irv
So many of the specific manu brands are made by someone else who has a similar/same oil that is usually less than half price. I'd have no qualms about running any of the oils mentioned here. I use Mobil 0W-40 Euro syn oil in my Vector and I can do an oil change for $40 bucks including filter. A syn Yamalube oil change with filter will run you over $90 up here. Overpriced average run of the mill oil. Mainecat
If your valves are gumming up your running too much oil and the pump needs an adj.

Or, the wrong type of oil. Hey Jimmy...pull your valves and see what they look like. That’s a good indicator of how well your mil is using the oil you are putting in it. It’s easy to do. They prolly need a good cleaning anyway.
