Quite a few...last i worked in the factory was 09...but still.

Ft Mac'ers could get into that kind of coin, but it wouldn't be no cushy gig.  Lots of hours for sure.

Holy fucking shit.......I cannot fathom how dumb one would have to be to not even have the most basic understanding of what a tariff is and why its being used in regards to Canada

What I said was if Canada was not previously selling steel for less then American steel manufacturers they would not be subject to the tariff. IF you and Ice cant figure that out then you both should be doing a facepalm, on yourselves.

That is incorrect.  There are many reasons/justifications for imposing a tarrif on a country with price potentially being one of them.  In our case it isn’t the reason.

Well then , post up a few receipts . Lets see what you are paying.

Current pricing is between .060 and .070 per pound CDN $ for coil stock and discrete plate depending on the quantity purchased and type of product.

We’ve had free trade for almost 25 years.  If it was cheaper to produce steel in Canada vs the US our steel mills would be booming when in actuality some have closed.

Most of the steel we buy/sell is made here in Canada. There's the exceptional size or material that we get from the US and all our cold finished bars come from offshore(nothing from China). What'll effect us will be our customer base if they get bagged with an increase as most of their product goes to the US

You send anything to the US?

Virtually all my systems go outside of Ontario.  Panel suppliers vary depending on customer standards but most leave that to our discretion.

I would bet some of that bar you are purchasing from offshore is coming from china and is relabeled ....unless you know exactly what mill is making it

60% of the steel imported into Canada comes from the US, 8% comes from China.

This is just stupid.

I don’t ship anything directly to the US, but some of my stuff does ultimately end up there.

And of that 8% most would be consumed here.

Do we need to rehash the relabeling of Counrty of Origin issue again????

Every fucking stat you morons site for the origins of all the foreign steel is bullshit. A lot of it is chinese and being relabeled in other ports. Sweet fuck we have been over this 1 million times. That is a big part of the entire issue here and why tariffs are being used broadly. China and its partners are running an end around every measure being taken to stem their illegal dumping.

Fuck, I understand country of origin since since everything I sell/ship comes as country of origin being Canada.

If the US can't handle steel coming Canada that is about as balanced as it can be then you have much bigger issues.  Done.

And you have been told repeatedly that the tariffs on Canada have little to do with steel and are being used as a trade chip in the NAFTA negotiations. If Canada wants to make the NAFTA things difficult then you can have a good fucking to your steel industry. Done

We want mexico dealt with .....again I am totally happy with any trade being done with Canada. You are a good trade partner with an equal playing field. I dont even care if we run deficits with Canada. Our respective countries make each other more competitive and that is good for everyone.

Mexico is the entire issue with Nafta......it never should have been included and the only reason it was is so we could ship our manufacturing jobs there and pay their slave labor next to nothing. If that portion isnt renegotiated the whole deal is out. Canada didnt want to scrap NAFTA and was in opposition to what we are after......hence the tariffs staying in place as planned.

The reason its steel and aluminum tariffs is because the POTUS can use those tariffs at will and without justification because those industries are a matter of national security
