Me either without the 15%.

Well good for you but that's not the case  for most Americans. Im sure you thank your union representative all the time for that. Most pay a bunch and have high deductibles

That said a high deductible shouldn't cause a bk. From what I see from clients it's not the med care that caused it its the fact they were living on the edge and failed to have an appropriate safety net and disability insurance

If you are referring to Elizebeth Warrens deceiving study she claims 72 %. What she fails to mention is that 78% of those who filed for bankruptcy for supposed medical bills had less then $1500 in medical bills.

Don't some just sign over their homes to avoid bankruptcy and get to live in them.  When their gone it becomes payment?

Where is that stat?

My number was off a little .

Heriot: Buried in the study is the fact that only 27 percent of the surveyed debtors had unreimbursed medical expenses exceeding $1,000 over the course of the two years prior to their bankruptcy. … Nobody likes to pay $1,000 in medical expenses even when they get two years to do it in, but for most Americans (particularly those with enough at stake to seek the protection of bankruptcy) it is not catastrophic.

With Maine unemployment at 2.9% (Thanks LePage) I see way more jobs adverting insurance than ever before.

I thank UPS... they're shelling out the $.

Cause our largest accounts don't take cc and we get a 2% discount if we pay in 10 days.

I put over 150k on my cc every year.

Sure, business owners.  Jeff wasn't talking about that type, if he's talking about someone doing chargeoffs.  200k is an insane amount of cc debt unless you're paying it off every month or two.

Theres alot of things insurance doesnt cover. I take care of 3 senior citzens and see how the billing works. IMO health care in this country is more about the billing than the service. Cant wait til i get old!

Well, when you are 50k in debt and 49k is on your CC due to purchases at WalMart and 1k is due to the hospital for medical bills.  Saying that you declared bankruptcy due to medical bills is DISINGENUOUS.  Get it?

yup and thats the reality.  1000 in med bills isn't what caused it it's the hundreds of thousands manyhave in other debts.  In my above comment i should have said 200k in debt not 200k in credit card debt as that kind of CC debts an outlier.  I see a ton of people with 30-50k in credit card debt,  2-3 car loans,  camper loans,  motorcycle loans, sled loans etc

Med care/insurance in this countries broken and everyone should realize that

for all the call from the left about medicare for all that systems also broken and there are a lot of costs to the elderly for their care.  That said we can't give the old anymore they are the biggest burden to the medical system as well as SS and pension systems.  System needs to change and we should ration healthcare- esp to older people given quality of life and a negative return on investment
