Ties are about as dumb as it gets on any level of real competition. I was't a fan of "shoot outs" to decide NHL wins but understood the purpose of not risking injury to already fatigued players. Refs make bad calls all the time. Sometimes your team gets a break, other times they get fucked. All that really matters is what the scoreboard says at the end of the game, a tie.
