:pan:  sending the children to Gitmo during their school years. That's how to make them complacent later in life. What about yard time?? Fuck me! :finger:

:usflag:

Why is locking the doors and having some security "Gitmo"?  That's weird.

They are places of bliss and learning with the highest graduation rates in the country!!!  They attain this level of higher education and graduation rates by making sure students know shooting during school hours is prohibited.  But as soon as that bell rings....Pew!  Pew...Pew!!!!  Pew, pew, pew!!!!!!

There are no shootings IN Chicago schools. Hence the police officers. And not ONE armed teacher...

I was being facetious. Minimum security prison, better?

Actually, yes.  I've worked in places that takes codes to get in and doors are locked.  Why isn't this done at schools?  It's not the end all but, simple safety steps can be taken right now.

Our schools here are locked up. One way in/out. At least 1 security person at that door, sometimes up to 3. These are retired cops, and big guys. There is a local cop on site as well.

I need to ask but I think our high school has all doors locked but the main front doors.  We also have a full time officer on site with his office by the front doors.

Again, just more deterrents and safety measures.

Then what do we do when the next wacko decides to just wait until they all come filing out to get on the bus or walk home?

Bulletproof hamster balls. Put all kids in them.

Still waiting on the answer....what is going on?

Most high schools already have security, all doors are locked (even from the inside despite conflicting fire codes) and other security measures in place. It can be quite difficult to get into most schools, even if you have legitimate business there.

Ok.  That’s your answer for “what is going on?”  My bad.  I thought you meant you knew something that we didn’t.  Turns out...no.

Again, all the wrong answers for all the wrong questions.

”Aleppo”.

Before the E Jones thing, I spent most of my time in various schools, nursing homes and hospitals.  And its still amazingly easy to get into a school.  Look for the dumpsters and cooking hoods sticking out of the buildings.  Chances are there is a loading dock there and you can walk right in, if not through the front door.

We work in probably 50 schools a year, security is very serious.

So you think it's a good idea to force someone who isn't qualified and doesn't want to do it to be armed security? For children? What could go wrong?

shake the sand out, dude.

who said force someone?

who said not trained?

i haven't seen anyone suggest forcing untrained teachers to carry...except maybe on mslsd or cnn.

I never had any issues.  And I even had the Sandy Hook account at one point, but obviously this was well before the shooting, they tore that school down shortly afterwards.

We did a shitload of work in the federal courthouse downtown and you were "supposed" to have a issued picture ID to get in the building. Most of the time we would forget them and the Marshalls would just let us in. Then one day a prisoner got loose and killed 2 guards. Security got pretty serious after that. After 9/11 security got nuts. Now most buildings downtown won't let you in without being escorted or on a list.

Having done this work for nearly 30 years I'm pretty good at bullshitting my way into places but the schools are getting very serious about security, especially the last few years.
