I've worked in places that takes codes to get in and doors are locked. Why isn't this done at schools? It's not the end all but, simple safety steps can be taken right now. At least 1 security person at that door, sometimes up to 3. These are retired cops, and big guys. There is a local cop on site as well. We also have a full time officer on site with his office by the front doors. Again, just more deterrents and safety measures.

Most high schools already have security, all doors are locked (even from the inside despite conflicting fire codes) and other security measures in place. It can be quite difficult to get into most schools, even if you have legitimate business there.

I thought you meant you knew something that we didn’t. Turns out...no. Again, all the wrong answers for all the wrong questions. ”Aleppo”. And its still amazingly easy to get into a school. Look for the dumpsters and cooking hoods sticking out of the buildings. Chances are there is a loading dock there and you can walk right in, if not through the front door.

We did a shitload of work in the federal courthouse downtown and you were "supposed" to have a issued picture ID to get in the building. Most of the time we would forget them and the Marshalls would just let us in. Then one day a prisoner got loose and killed 2 guards. Security got pretty serious after that. After 9/11 security got nuts. Now most buildings downtown won't let you in without being escorted or on a list. Having done this work for nearly 30 years I'm pretty good at bullshitting my way into places but the schools are getting very serious about security, especially the last few years.
