It's not... The stock market value is based on investors' valuation and expectations of future cash flows of the companies that make up the "market". The economy is one factor in that valuation.

I tend to loan things out to people who would or do the same for me. Must be a citiot. I have 4. Pretty much the same here. Depends who it is though. Last tool I loaned out was my chain saw to my FIL. Came back with a burned up chain, no bar oil, and bar oil in the gas tank. Didn't say a word to me when I was picking it up either.

I have the cheapest Stihl, the MS170 and it works fine. If you are going to cut wood to heat your house or run a business, it probably isn't the saw to have. For me it cuts everything but the biggest of stumps on my 5 acres. It's cheap, light, versatile, and reliable. The one I have my dad bought as a spare for his. He might have just wore out his first one after hundreds and hundreds of hours of use, mostly cutting small cottonwoods and clearing buckthorn. The key is a sharp chain. We just use a hand file and that is plenty good. With a sharp chain it will throw chips almost as good as a big saw.

Low gas prices have really killed sales of small cars. I have a 45 minure commute and am cheap so just a Focus I bought new that's paid for, 150k miles. Looking at a used Escape in the future for my wife. She drives alot so mileage is important. Almost 30 mpg in the Escapes. Can be had a couple years old with low miles for $15k. Looked at some cars at the fair this week. $17k for a Focus, $30k for Escape, $40k for F150, $60k for a diesel. Crazy...

Until you get multiple parts coming from multiple warehouses. Or can't wait 5 days for it. Many parts have free one day shipping if the local Amazon warehouse has it. Otherwise, only a few $ more for 1 day shipping, or free 2 day shipping.

Rock Auto is nice since it is organized and easy to find all the available options. However, their shipping costs are a complete disaster. Oh, we stock that in 2 warehouses, you get to pay twice our already inflated shipping costs. I typically find the options that fit on Rock Auto and order through Amazon.
