  1. My next car likely won't be a ford since they basically don't make them anymore. https://www.cnbc.com/2023/07/07/ford-fiesta-end-of-an-era-as-last-fiesta-rolls-off-production-line.html The last Ford Fiesta is set to roll off the production line Friday, marking the end of an era that saw the vehicle become a mainstay of millions of drivers around the world. The Fiesta has been sold in more than 50 countries, with over 22 million vehicles produced since 1976, but Friday will see the last new one manufactured. In a nod to its importance, the automotive giant will hold on to the final two Fiestas, placing them in its heritage vehicle fleets in the U.K. and Germany. “At Ford in Europe, we are rapidly transitioning to an electric future,” a Ford spokesperson said in a statement. “As part of this transition, production of the Fiesta in Cologne, Germany will be discontinued on 7 July 2023, and a new era at the Cologne Electric Vehicle Center will begin,” they added. Here’s where everyone stands Tesla vs. BYD: Here’s why one fund manager prefers the Buffett-backed automaker Watch Elon Musk’s full interview with CNBC’s David Faber on Twitter, Tesla and A.I. advances In an announcement last year, Ford said production of the Fiesta — a smaller car with a distinctive design — would cease. The firm is pursuing an electrification strategy, and has previously said all of its passenger vehicle range in Europe “will be zero-emissions capable” by the middle of 2026. It’s targeting a fully electric line-up in Europe by 2030. These moves come as countries in Europe look to transition away from vehicles that use fossil fuels. The U.K., for instance, wants to stop the sale of new diesel and gasoline cars and vans by 2030 and will require, from 2035, all new cars and vans to have zero tailpipe emissions. The European Union, which the U.K. left on Jan. 31, 2020, is also looking to reduce emissions from road based transportation. The Ford Fiesta has gone through a number of design changes over the years. National Motor Museum/Heritage Images | Hulton Archive | Getty Images In comment sent to CNBC via email, David Leggett, automotive analyst at GlobalData, said there had been “a market shift in Europe towards compact SUVs.” “In Ford’s case it would rather sell its higher margin Puma than small hatchbacks,” he added. “The Ford Focus will also disappear from European dealerships in 2025.” Leggett argued that the rationalization of model lines reflected, in part, “the need for more investment in electrified models.” “The global semiconductors shortage that followed the pandemic also hastened the trend as manufacturers prioritised their higher margin models to leave factories,” he said. “Small hatchbacks like the Fiesta come with notoriously slim margins,” he added. “As soon as volumes drop-off, they can quickly look unsustainable.” Leggett also touched upon the intensification of competition, noting that a “wave of Chinese EVs” were on the way. “In short, there’s no real case for the investment to renew a model range like the Fiesta. Like the Focus, it’s had its day in the sun. It was a great car for Ford, though.”
  2. @ckf looks like someone stole your secret recipe. https://www.facebook.com/reel/804551221081207?s=yWDuG2&fs=e&mibextid=Nif5oz
  3. They won't spend the money for cast stainless steel exhaust manifolds and the hardware to go along with it.
  4. Doesn't matter what brand here they will all rot off.

  6. Unchecked inflation is a bad thing. I just looked up a part for a customer that used to be $25 and its $65 now.
  7. The student loan situation will only get worse. Rates for the direct loans for undergraduates are 5.5% and 7.05% for graduate students, plus a 1% origination fee. There is a limit on those direct subsidized and unsubsidized loans so many will turn to the parent plus loans at 8.05% with a 4% origination fee. People think their kids should go to college at any cost and what they are really falling into is a trap.
  8. Because it is legal to do so. If they want to make student loans bankruptable, then pass a law that allows it.

  10. Even the state DFL party disowned their rep member after the evidence came out overwhelmingly he was in the wrong.
  11. In this case, my wife is driving it so I want all the safety systems to work. She is under strict instruction to let me know every time a light comes on.
  12. It's already started with the electronics today in vehicles. My wife's Explorer had a blind spot system fault come up on the dash. All I could do is tell her to wash the car and hopefully it goes off after awhile. The light is still on so I asked my local mechanic if that is something he could look at and he won't touch it. Off to the dealer we go.
  13. Was at Sams Club last week. 24 pack of Bud Lite was $18 with a $15 rebate and no one was buying them. Lots of Leinenkuegels going out the door.
  14. Look how much we take in as payroll taxes and how much we spend on Social Security, Medicare, and "Health". If we fund SS, "Health", and "income security" there isn't even enough left over to fund defense, medicare, education, interest on the debt, veterans benefits, transportation, and $192 billion in other expenses. The federal government in 2022 took in $1.5 trillion in payroll taxes and spent $1.2 trillion on SS and $0.8 trillion on Medicare.
  15. "Municipal state run pension fund" is all I needed to hear before I knew which direction that was headed.
  16. I'm headed back to Philly in August. Definitely avoiding that area. If China can build COVID hospitals and camps in a week you'd think they could get an overpass knocked out pretty quick.
